The Danger of Doubt

My Franklin Planner has a quote or motivational saying for each day of the week.  On this day is a quote by Arthur Golden who said, “A mind troubled by doubt cannot focus on the course to victory.”

We understand the need for faith and confidence when it involves athletic contests.  For a team to win, it must believe that it can.  For the team to be victorious each player must focus with confidence in their ability to succeed.  Continue reading

WHAT IS WORSHIP?

Worship is a verb.

It denotes activity and action.  It is not passive, but active.  Worship is something you do, not something that is done to you.  The word “worship” is really not defined in the Bible, but it’s described. Continue reading

Bulletin Bloopers!

What’s the Difference Between Responsibility and Accountability?

I’m working on a three-part series called “The Character of a Man.”  I began  listing words that had to do with character to see if I could make the series into an acrostic spelling C H A R A C T E R.  (I know that’s a big surprise to those who know me well!)

As they drove up the lane admiring their beautiful new custom home, Mary remarked, “You know, Michael, if it weren’t for my money, we probably wouldn’t have this new home.”  Again, Michael was silent. Continue reading

Sail On!

Today is Columbus Day. It is a day that Americans celebrate the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus in 1492.  Some say that America was really discovered by Norse Vikings, Irish missionaries or the ten lost tribes of Israel!  But the fact is Columbus was successful in his quest and returned to the old World to spread the good news.  Continue reading

Upon The First Day of the Week

With such an emphasis today on the “week-end” as a time for travel, recreation, or sporting events it is easy to forget that Sunday is the first day of the week.

It is a unique day in history.  It is a day sanctified in Scripture.  It is a day special to all Christians. Continue reading
