Weekly Recap: April 11-16

Good morning from Beverly Hills, Florida

Now that we’ve settled into a home again in central Florida, I’ve been asked about our future travel and preaching plans.

When we are here, I’ve been preaching for the West Citrus Church in Crystal River and teaching a Sunday morning Bible class.  However, we have several preaching appointments and meetings on our schedule for 2021.  If, and that’s a BIG IF, the US-Canadian border opens, we’d like to go back to Canada this summer.  But currently, that’s not looking very promising. Weekly Recap: April 4-9

Good morning from Beverly Hills, Florida,

“Psalm 116:15 is so comforting to all those (who) have lost loved ones.  Thank you for this morning’s blog,” wrote Peggy one of our regular readers.  Comments like this that we receive weekly, if not daily, continue to fuel our resolve to keep this little blog going.  I’m always amazed at how a particular post speaks to a reader’s situation that was unknown to me. Weekly Recap: March 28-April 2

Good morning from chilly Citrus County, Florida

This has been an exciting week in terms of getting settled.  My office furniture arrived, so I was able to unpack my books and start working from my new office instead of the dining room table.

Two realizations soon hit me.  (1) I didn’t give away enough books.  (2) If you’re moving from having both a church office and a home office into just one home office, realize that it’s not all going to fit. So, we’re storing out, repacking some stuff, and storing Continue reading

Weekly Recap: March 21-26

Good morning from Beverly  Hills FL

One of my Northern friends asked the other say, “Are you enjoying Florida?”

“It’s great,” I replied.

Especially this time of year.  Weather-wise the lows are in the upper 50’s or lower 60’s.  Then it warms up to around 80 during the day. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: March 14-19

Good morning from Beverly Hills, Florida

We’ve been in our house for just over a month and it’s beginning to feel like home.   As much fun as it was traveling full time, it’s nice to be settled again and not be moving to another location today.

Today’s recap features a rather eclectic variety of posts on topics that you will find interesting and edifying.  If you missed one, this is a good way to catch up.

Also, today is the online funeral service for Ed Harrell.  Thursday’s post provides information on accessing that service Continue reading

Weekly Recap: March 7-12

Good morning from Beverly Hills, Florida

Someone quipped at church the other evening, “Well, do you have all your boxes unpacked yet?  Hopefully, they were joking.  But we’re making progress.

With the arrival of more furniture yesterday, Norma Jean said, “Now, our house is beginning to look like a home.”  Hopefully, we’ll soon be there.  I’ll be happy when I get my desk and bookcases and can set up my office.

In addition to the recap of this week’s post, I’ve added a bonus post, on this my 73rd birthday, dedicated to my generation who are getting older, but don’t feel old yet.  Hope you enjoy it. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: February 28-March 5

Good Morning from Beverly Hills, FL

We’re gradually getting settled in our new home and enjoying the slower pace and quiet “country life” here in Citrus county.

This month I will be preaching each Sunday morning at the West Citrus Church.  So, if you’re traveling through our area, please stop and worship with us.

In addition, we’ve added some meeting and preaching dates to our 2021 schedule.

Weekly Recap: February 21-26

Good morning from Beverly Hills, FL

As the late, great Yogi Berra once quipped, “It’s like déjà vu all over again,” as we unpack boxes and see stuff we haven’t seen for 33 months.

The other day Norma Jean questioned, “Where did THAT come from?” Continue reading

Weekly Recap: February 14-19

Good morning from Beverly Hills,

Well, after 33 months of traveling from place to place, we now have a house we can call home.

Now, I don’t get to answer the question “Where do you live?” with the retort, “We’re homeless.” Of course, Norma Jean never did like that answer anyway.

I never dreamed of living in Beverly Hills. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: February 7-12

Good morning from Pompano Beach,

We’ve been blessed to enjoy sunshine and 80-degree weather here, while much of the country is suffering from cold, snow, and ice.

Tomorrow, I’m preaching at both Sunday AM services at the Northside Church.  It’s been a pleasure to be with these brethren again and enjoy time with our life long friends Steve and Theresa McAllister.  The real highlights of our travels in the past 33 months have not been so much the places we’ve been or the sights we’ve seen, but the new friends we’ve made, and the old friends we’ve enjoyed reconnecting with.

Monday, we’re leaving and heading back to Citrus County, where we have a very exciting week ahead.  But more on that in a later post.
