Weekly Recap May 15-19

Greeting from Beverly Hills, FL

It’s been a wonderful week here in lovely Citrus county.  We’re blessed to live here. To bask in the warm sunshine. To enjoy being close to our family. To have an opportunity to minister in the Word.  And share these blog posts every day.

However, we realize in the midst of our enjoyment, there is sickness, suffering and death.  We learned this week of the passing of a friend from the Kansas City area, Bob Harmon. He was 94.  His funeral service is today.  And even though his family and friends rejoice in the godly life he lived and the hope in which he died, he will be missed.  At the end of this recap is a link to a beautiful tribute written by my friend Roger Shouse.  I hope you’ll read it. Weekly Recap: May 8-12

Greetings from Beverly Hills, FL

This is a busy weekend.  Not only are we celebrating Mother’s Day tomorrow, but it is Kenny’s Birthday.  He was born May 14th the day after Mother’s Day.  But this year, both fall on the same day.  It’s hard to believe he will be 50 years old.  Hmmm, how old does that make me?  Never mind. Weekly Recap: May 1-5

Greetings from the Smoky Mountains

We’re blessed this week to be in our “happy place.”  Or at least one of them.  Plus our enjoyment of the mountains is enhanced by visiting with friends, like Olie and Mary Williamson, and preaching for the brethren at the Cosby church.  If you happen to be visiting the Smokies this weekend, come and join us for the 11:00 AM worship service tomorrow.

Our time here reminds us of the value and blessing of relationships.  Today’s bonus post features a post from 9 years ago today, 7 Principles For Improving Relationships.  Hope you will find these biblical suggestions helpful in your relationships. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: April 24-29

Greeting from Citrus County Florida

As we close April, we are finally getting some much needed rain here on the Nature Coast.  It’s been so dry here that I wondered if some “Elijah” had been praying for a drought.

However, we are blessed regardless of the weather to refresh our souls from “the water of life.”  It’s our hope and prayer that our efforts on this little blog will add to your spiritual refreshment.  If you’ve missed any posts this week, we send out this recap every Saturday with its live links as way to catch up.  Also there is a bonus post from 5 years ago that you baseball lovers will enjoy-“Are You Loafing Into Second Base?  Continue reading

Weekly Recap: April 17-21

Greetings from Beverly Hills,  FL

Happy Earth Day!  Yes, it’s a  thing. April 22 is “Earth Day.”  You can read about it on their official web page.

Each Saturday when I send out this recap, I always include a past post as a bonus. Today’s is from April, 22, 2014,  The Preacher’s Perspective on Earth Day.  For my preaching colleagues, the 5 points would actually put you on second base for a sermon on stewardship. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: April 9-14

Greetings from Miami, Florida.

Last night we concluded a meeting at the Carol City Church and are headed home today.

We’ve been with these brethren on previous occasions, so it was enjoyable to return and renew our relationships.  Our friend, Donald Jackson ,is the preacher at Carol City and is always very gracious when we are with him and his lovely and hospitable wife, Gwen.   She’s the daughter of the late and well known evangelist F. O. White, who preached here for many years. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: March 27-31

Greetings from Beverly Hills, Florida

On Tuesday WordPress informed me that our post “3 Lessons From March Madness” was #3300.

If you had given me an assignment on January 1, 2012 to write 3300 articles, I might have thrown up my hands and said, “I’ll never get that done.”  But here we are.  Eleven years and three month later. Little by little. Day by Day.  One post at a time.  I think there’s a lesson in there for all of us.  Our daily efforts and activities can add up over time to make a big difference. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: March13-17

Good Morning from Beverly Hills, FL

It’s been a great week.  Not just in the many well wishes from our readers for my 75th birthday, but the beginning of my favorite 3 weeks of the year.  Yep.  March Madness.

Like everyone else, my bracket is busted.  Thanks Princeton. Thanks FDU. Thanks Furman. But at least my Indiana Hoosiers won in convincing fashion last night.  In spite of all the excitement and activities this week, we’ve managed to post everyday.  Including today’s recap. Continue reading
