My very good friend, fellow Toastmaster, and preaching colleague, Ralph Walker often regales me with wonderful stories, humorous quips, and witty responses to my blog posts.

Not long ago Ralph shared with me the story of an Indiana “Good Samaritan,” Josiah Vargas, who posted his adventure on a TikTok video that amassed over 2.3 million views.

Vargas made a trip through the McDonalds drive-thru in Elkhart, just to get a Sausage McMuffin. Later when he opened the bag he was shocked with the contents. Continue reading

Integrity in the Business World

Last night Norma Jean and I attended the 12th annual Florida College Leadership Dinner.

It was a wonderful evening of warm fellowship with many of our friends who are supporters of Florida College. It was an opportunity to support FC’s business department with scholarships and hear featured speaker Steve Forbes. And of course, to enjoy a delicious meal. Continue reading

What A-Rod Could Learn from Davis Riley

Even if you’re not a baseball fan, it would be difficult to miss the big news of the latest scandal involving performance enhancing drugs.

Ryan Braun is already serving a negotiated 65 game suspension.  It’s rumored as many as 20 others may be found guilty including New York Yankee superstar Alex Rodriguez.  While many are continuing to work with MLB,  negotiating shorter suspensions, A-Rod has vowed to fight it.  Continue reading

Plants

There is an ancient fable of  an Emperor from China who had no children and needed to choose a successor.

Thousands of children from across the kingdom were called to the palace and were shocked when the Emperor exclaimed, “I have decided to choose one of you.”

“I am going to give each one of you a seed today. One very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed.
