Overcoming Evil With Good

Andrew Moroz is a Ukrainian-American preacher who reports that Christians in his home country are “putting their faith into practice” and shining the light of Christ despite not knowing what will remain of their homeland after the war, as reported by Michael Foust on ChristianHeadlines.com

Moroz says it’s both “beautiful” and “heartbreaking” to see how churches have responded to the Russian invasion.

In describing how people were helping, encouraging, and serving one another in such dire circumstances, Moroz said, “By God’s grace we can overcome evil with good.” Continue reading

Pay it Forward

“Pay it Forward” is an expression that describes the concept of repaying a good deed to others instead of the original benefactor.

Lily Hardy Hammond may have originally coined the phrase when she wrote in her 1916 book, “In the Garden of Delight,” “You don’t pay love back; you pay it forward.”

While the expression has been around for a while, it was made popular in the movie, based on Catherine Ryan Hyde’s book, “Pay it Forward,” starring Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, and Haley Joel Osment. Continue reading

Can You Be Good Without God?

A Pew Research Center Poll revealed that for the first time a majority of Americans say it is possible to be a good person without religious beliefs.

The poll conducted in June and July surveyed 5,000 American adults and found that 56% said that “God is not a prerequisite for good values and morality,” according to Greg Smith, Pew’s associate director of research. Smith attributed this response to the increased number of Americans who are religious “nones,” that is they have no religious affiliation. Continue reading
