“HOLY SEX” were the first two words that Dr. Tom Hamilton, a Florida College professor, uttered yesterday in his lecture “Not in Passion of Lust.”
In the lecture book Tom wrote, “If Christians were honest with themselves, “holy sex” sounds like the greatest of all oxymorons. In any number of church buildings, the word ‘sex’ is yet to be mentioned (unless it is spelled ‘sects’), being considered a taboo topic for public proclamation.” Continue reading

Yesterday, I shared with my marriage class the 10 emotional needs from Dr. Willard Harley’s book HIS NEEDS HER NEEDS. He says five are typically male needs and the other five are female needs. He writes that meeting these needs will “affair proof your marriage.” He also affirms that when you discover your own needs and identify your mate’s needs that it will “deepen your love and desire for each other.”

“What’s your secret?” we are asked when people find out we’re celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
Since we are asked that question often, Norma Jean and I have come up with some answers we think have made our marriage work. “Secrets” that are not really secrets, but are not always practiced or even accepted by many people today.

Yesterday, as Norma Jean and I toured the National Museum of Archaeology in Athens and viewed the artifacts of the great thinkers and philosophers of Greece and Rome, it occurred to me that, despite their intellectual acumen, most did not truly know Jehovah God.
Yesterday’s post discussed Paul’s sermon, revealing to the Epicureans and Stoics “The Unknown God” as Jehovah God. Many mocked the apostle’s message. Regardless, God has revealed Himself to us. Continue reading

Yesterday Norma Jean and I spent the morning touring the area of the Areopagus and The Parthenon, where the virgin goddess Athena was worshiped. Previously I had only seen pictures and visited the Athens of the south, Nashville, Tennesse and seen its replica.
It is amazing to see the actual Parthenon, built between 447 and 438 B.C. As I looked across to Areopagus Hill, I thought about the apostle Paul’s visit to this same city as recorded by Luke in Acts 17. Continue reading

Yesterday Norma Jean and I toured the Panathenaic Stadium, a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece. It is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble.
Originally built in the 4th century B.C., it was rebuilt in 144 B.C. in marble by Herodes Atticus, an Athenian Roman senator. After the 4th century it was abandoned until excavated in 1869 and hosted the Zappas Olympics in 1870 and 1875. After being refurbished, it was the site of the first modern Olympics in 1896.
