Weekly Recap: March 7-12

Good morning from Beverly Hills, Florida

Someone quipped at church the other evening, “Well, do you have all your boxes unpacked yet?  Hopefully, they were joking.  But we’re making progress.

With the arrival of more furniture yesterday, Norma Jean said, “Now, our house is beginning to look like a home.”  Hopefully, we’ll soon be there.  I’ll be happy when I get my desk and bookcases and can set up my office.

In addition to the recap of this week’s post, I’ve added a bonus post, on this my 73rd birthday, dedicated to my generation who are getting older, but don’t feel old yet.  Hope you enjoy it. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: February 28-March 5

Good Morning from Beverly Hills, FL

We’re gradually getting settled in our new home and enjoying the slower pace and quiet “country life” here in Citrus county.

This month I will be preaching each Sunday morning at the West Citrus Church.  So, if you’re traveling through our area, please stop and worship with us.

In addition, we’ve added some meeting and preaching dates to our 2021 schedule.

Weekly Recap: February 21-26

Good morning from Beverly Hills, FL

As the late, great Yogi Berra once quipped, “It’s like déjà vu all over again,” as we unpack boxes and see stuff we haven’t seen for 33 months.

The other day Norma Jean questioned, “Where did THAT come from?” Continue reading

Weekly Recap: February 14-19

Good morning from Beverly Hills,

Well, after 33 months of traveling from place to place, we now have a house we can call home.

Now, I don’t get to answer the question “Where do you live?” with the retort, “We’re homeless.” Of course, Norma Jean never did like that answer anyway.

I never dreamed of living in Beverly Hills. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: February 7-12

Good morning from Pompano Beach,

We’ve been blessed to enjoy sunshine and 80-degree weather here, while much of the country is suffering from cold, snow, and ice.

Tomorrow, I’m preaching at both Sunday AM services at the Northside Church.  It’s been a pleasure to be with these brethren again and enjoy time with our life long friends Steve and Theresa McAllister.  The real highlights of our travels in the past 33 months have not been so much the places we’ve been or the sights we’ve seen, but the new friends we’ve made, and the old friends we’ve enjoyed reconnecting with.

Monday, we’re leaving and heading back to Citrus County, where we have a very exciting week ahead.  But more on that in a later post.

Weekly Recap: January 14-29

Good morning from chilly Homosassa, Florida.

We’re enjoying a weekend with our grandkids, Miles, and Katherine, while Kenny and April enjoy a short get-a-way.

It’s hard to believe we’re ending the first month of 2021.  It’s been filled with new opportunities as well as exciting challenges.  Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks, we can announce where we will once again have a permanent residence. It’s been fun being nomadic, but we need a house we can call home. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: January 17-22

Good morning from Temple Terrace, Florida.

We’re continuing to enjoy our time here in a very familiar place to us.  It’s great seeing old friends and enjoying time with our grandchildren.  Although after two very long days, including helping Roy with his online school, we’re reminded why God gave children to young people.

Tomorrow we’re looking forward to worshiping with and preaching for the brethren at the West Citrus Church in Crystal River, where Kenny and his family attend.  Then on Monday, I’m speaking at my alma mater, Florida College, at their chapel devotional. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: January 10-15

Good morning from Temple Terrace, Florida,

We’re here for the month of January.  Enjoying time with our daughter and our grandkids.  Seeing old friends.  And looking forward to speaking in chapel at my Alma Mater, Florida College on January 25th.

This week’s recap features two posts that speak to the civil unrest we’ve experienced and the Christian’s response and attitude toward it.  Also, there’s a post from 2016 that is relevant to the divided state of our country.

Weekly Recap: January 3-8

Good morning from Temple Terrace, Florida,

It’s a bit cool here in the pre-dawn hours at 54 degrees, with a predicted drop to 48 and highs today only in the ’50s. So, winter can be a bit tough here in Florida sometimes!

We’re enjoying time with our grandchildren, working on finding a house we can call home, and counting our many blessings.  In addition, we have an opportunity to see many of our friends from bygone days. Continue reading

Yearly Recap 2020

Good morning from sunny Florida

We begin 2021 in a very familiar place to us–Temple Terrace.  It’s where Norma Jean and I met in 1967 when I was a student at Florida College.  We are spending the month of January here as we finalize plans to secure a home for a permanent resident, which we will be announcing later.

We will be returning to Citrus county tomorrow where I’m preaching for the West Citrus church as well as on January 24th and 31st.  So, I have two openings this month, if any church in the area needs a guest speaker. Continue reading
