GREAT VERSES OF THE BIBLE: Revelation 3:20

A nurse in the pediatric ward, before listening to the little one’s chest would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would always light up with wonderment. But she never got a response to equal four-year old David’s. Gently he tucked the stethoscope in his ears and placed the disk over his heart.

“Listen, she said, “What do you suppose that is?”

He drew his eye brows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap-tap tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin. Continue reading →

Word of the Week: Think

Ralph Waldo Emerson, the 19th-century essayist, poet, and philosopher, wrote a great deal about the importance of thinking for oneself. He once lamented that “the problem with men today is that they don’t think.”

The inventor,Thomas Edison, echoed this sentiment when he opined, “Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think.” Continue reading →

Know Why

Scientist, Norber Wiener, once wrote, “There is one quality more important than know-how. This is know-why by which we determine not only how to accomplish our purposes, but what our purposes are to be.”

It other words, “know why” is more important than “know how.” I think this is true not only in living every day life, but in the Lord’s work. Continue reading →

Is Anyone Irredeemable?

For someone who enjoys keeping up with the what’s going on in the world, I am purposely watching less and less news and commentary programs. It seems to be the same old tune. Hillary’s health. Hillary’s emails. Trump’s new poll numbers. Or some gaffe made by Trump.

But this comment by Hillary Clinton that half of Donald Trump’s supporters are a “basket of deplorables” did get my attention. She said they are “irredeemable.”

“Who’s in charge ’round here?” asked my friend and preaching colleague, Wilson Adams, on a recent facebook post.

Furthermore Wilson asked these rhetorical questions pertinent for all Bible Believers. “Do you think it’s time we were reminded of the unparalleled and paramount authority God has over the world in which we live? GREAT VERSES OF THE BIBLE: Proverbs 27:1

There is a word in the Bible that is filled with danger. In fact, Jim Kilson calls it “the most dangerous word.”

What do you suppose it is? Sin? Satan? Hell?

Kilson shares this hint. “The word is one of the easiest to speak, and one of the most fatal in its effect. It shines like a mirage in the desert, deceiving with a false promise. Word of the Week: Rejoice

David Roper tells a story about a 92-year-old Christian woman who was legally blind. In spite of her limitation, she was always neatly dressed, with her hair carefully brushed and her makeup tastefully applied. Each morning she would meet the new day with eagerness.

After her husband of 70 years died, it became necessary for her to go to a nursing home where she could receive proper care. On the day of the move, a helpful neighbor drove her there and guided her into the lobby. Her room wasn’t ready, so she waited patiently in the lobby for several hours. Continue reading →

A Day To Remember

Today is the 15th anniversary of 911.

It is a day of personal remembrance. Solemn reflection. And national introspection.

We all remember where we were and what we were doing on that day of infamy. Many of us know someone who was directly affected, killed, or either by chance or God’s grace missed being on one of those flights or in the twin towers.
