In case you missed it, tonight is the night we “spring forward” to set our clocks ahead by 1 hour. Don’t want anyone to miss Bible Class or worship tomorrow because you’re an hour late. Continue reading

Today, February 28, 2026, a rare “planet parade” occurs, with Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Jupiter appearing in a line along the ecliptic in the western sky shortly after sunset. Best viewed 30-60 minutes after dusk, this alignment allows for viewing most planets with the naked eye, though Uranus and Neptune will require binoculars. Continue reading

This was an unusual week. From recovering from the flu and not preaching on Sunday. To an extraordinary number of hits on past blog posts from unusual places. To celebrate Norma Jean’s birthday. To share some important posts that challenge not only our thinking, but also our actions.
Today’s post is a recap of last week’s post in case you missed it. If you missed Thursday’s post, When God Gives You A New Family, I hope you will read it. It relates 3 poignant true stories and calls for us to really be a family to those who need the care and concern of God’s Family. Continue reading

Greetings from Beverly Hills, FL
Well, this week’s recap is short on new posts and requires a little explanation. After my Tuesday post, I began feeling achy and weak. My level of energy quickly drained. Since Norma Jean had the flu last week, I figure the “bug” has bitten me, although I didn’t take a flu test. Continue reading

Greetings from Temple Terrace, FL
We’re still in TT following the lectures and participating in some “Golden Grad” functions for those of us who graduated from Florida College 50 years ago or longer.
This little school on the banks of the Hillsborough River holds a special place in our hearts. It’s where Norma Jean and I met. If not for coming to FC, we wouldn’t have enjoyed 58 years of marriage together. Here, we made friends who have developed into lifelong relationships. Bible professors and other teachers at FC helped shape my life and provide a spiritual perspective that I doubt would have been possible anywhere else. So, it’s very special to return. Relive precious memories, Reconnect with old friends. And find renewal and spiritual refreshment in our fellowship and the unique lectures each year. Continue reading

Besides politics, the news headlines this week and weekend are all about the weather. Especially records lows in Florida, reaching as far as Miami. It reminds me of a quip often attributed to Mark Twain but actually written by his friend and collaborator, Charles Dudley Warner, “Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.” Continue reading

Greetings from Pompano Beach, FL
We are back at the Northside church in Pompano Beach for a weekend meeting. We’re been here many times in the past, but it’s always a pleasure to return and fellowship with these fine brethren. They may be small in number, but they are strong in spirit. Continue reading

Greetings from chilly Beverly Hills,
If Norma Jean were writing this, she’d say “cold” instead of “chilly.” Yesterday it was 29 where we live. I slept in this morning, and it’s now up to 35. So, it does get cold in Florida.
But like my friend, Tommy Peeler, posted on Facebook from Indiana, where it does really get cold, “we’re thankful to have warm houses.” Continue reading

Greetings from Citrus County, Florida:
If you’re like us, you’re wrapping up your Christmas shopping. Literally! We hope each of you has a wonderful holiday season and is able to enjoy it with family and/or friends.
Of course, we know that the Christmas season doesn’t put the world on pause and keep bad things from happening, problems from occurring, or heartbreaking situations from befalling. In such cases, we pray for your peace, comfort, and assurance that whatever challenge you may face, the God of peace and all comfort knows, cares, and will not leave you. Continue reading

Greetings from Beverly Hills, FL
“It’s good to be home,” Norma Jean reflected as we pulled in our driveway on Wednesday afternoon. Indeed. Trips are fun. And often profitable. But home? Well, it just feels good to be home.
Of course, she may have been feeling some joy in knowing that our 2025 travel schedule is finished after being away for about 19 weeks this year. It’s a bit of a joke where we worship that I preach there when I’m home, but I’m never home! But we will be home at West Citrus every Sunday in December and most of January and February. If you’re traveling to Florida this winter, come over to the Nature Coast and worship with us. We’d love to see you. And maybe enjoy some of our delicious seafood together.
