Today finds Norma Jean and me in the Washington, D. C. area with Phil and Lori Mullins. It is combination vacation and meeting trip. I will be speaking for the Dulles church on the topic of leadership over the week-end.
Next week we hope to see some of the time-honored memorials in the area. The newly remodeled and reopened Washington Monument. The Lincoln memorial. The Jefferson Memorial. Arlington. One day we may drive to Gettysburg and see the battlefield memorials in the National cemetery. Continue reading

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the first degree murder conviction in the trial of Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor.
He was found guilty of murdering three babies born alive in his abortion clinic by severing their spines with scissors following delivery. And convicted on two counts of gross negligence of two mothers. In addition Gosnell was convicted for killing 21 babies in utero, which is not murder in these cases, but a violation of Pennsylvania’s legal-abortion limit. Continue reading
George Whitfield conducted outdoor evangelistic campaigns in the 1700’s throughout the American colonies, a period of revival called the “Great Awakening.”
Thousands responded to his Gospel message. Once he was asked how many were converted after one of his sermons. He replied, “We’ll know in five years.” Continue reading

Anna Marie Jarvis was 12 years old when she got the inspiration for a special day celebrating mothers.
Her mother was teaching a Bible class on “Mothers of the Bible.” At the end of class, Mrs. Jarvis said, “I hope that someone, sometime will found a memorial mothers day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life. Gene Robinson, the Episcopal bishop whose open and brazenly homosexual lifestyle ripped apart his denomination, announced that he is divorcing his male partner of 25 years.
Robinson made national news when he was elected as the first openly homosexual bishop of the Episcopal church in 2003. In protest, Conservative Episcopalians quit the church and formed the Anglican church in North America. Continue reading
