Truth vs Subjectivism

“Some say it’s generational, the tolerance of young people for same-sex marriage and so many other social issues,” wrote Cal Thomas in today’s transcript. However, Thomas thinks it’s something else.

The conservative Columnist opines “it is a falling away from the notion of objective Truth.” I believe Thomas is right. And it’s something gospel preachers have been saying for years.

Last year I heard 3 High School Students participate in a speech contest for our local Rotary Club. Each year the theme for the students is based on the Rotary 4 way test. Continue reading →

What’s Wrong With the World?

I accidently came across this blog the other day simple called “What’s Wrong with the World? I have not deeply delved into it, so I am not necessarily recommending it. But it looks interesting.

Their statement of purpose says their blog is “dedicated to the defense of what remains of Christendom, the civilization made by the men of the cross of Christ.” Their lengthy statement specifically mentions two dangers: (1) the Islamic doctrine of JIHAD and (2) “the brazen defiance of God” in what is generally called “liberalism.” Continue reading →

Should an LGBT Agenda Drive the Church?

LGBT Issues Fill Methodist Agenda

The above headline was at the top of the Faith page of Saturday’s Kansas City Star.

The article by Emily Miller from the Religious News Service described the agenda of the “Reconciling Network” within the denomination dedicated to including LGBT people. Currently the Methodist church bars homosexuals from being ordained as ministers and does not allow them to officiate same-sex weddings.

“It’s time,” said Wendy Witt during a recent Sunday service at the Chicago Temple. “Time to open the doors of the church to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, that is.” Continue reading →

Word of the Week: Mother

Napoleon said, “Let France have good mothers, and she will have good sons.” We might modify that and say, “Let America have good mothers and she will have good sons and daughters.” Or let the world have good mothers….

Since today is Mother’s day, we wanted to share our word of the week, Mother, a day early.

Mother’s Day is not a holy day, or a religious holiday. It is a day that we honor Christ. But the Lord we serve said, through the apostle Paul in Ephesians. 6:2, “honor your mother.” And so, as we give honor to our mothers, we are giving honor to the Lord. Continue reading →

God’s Purpose For My Life

On Wednesday Ohio Governor John Kasich told reporters “Throughout my campaign I have always said the Lord may have another purpose for me.”

Kasich commented that those words always perplexed the pundits regarding his commitment in his quest for the Presidency. He said, “It shows to some degree how little they understand about life.”

The Governor then concluded his prepared remarks by announcing, “I have always said that the Lord has a purpose for me as he has for everyone. And as I suspend my campaign today, I have renewed faith, deeper faith, that the Lord will show me the way forward, and fulfill the purpose of my life.” Continue reading →

Our National Day of Prayer

Wake up America

Yahoo reports this morning that President Obama plans to name the iconic New York Stonewall Inn, where the “Gay Rights” movement supposedly began, as a national monument.

Tuesday, voters in my home state of Indiana overwhelming cast their ballots for Donald Trump, an egomaniac, immoral, narcissist, who has been named as the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States.

The Democratic party is still in a battle for their nominee–a choice between an cranky socialist and a cackly criminal. Continue reading →

Great Verses of the Bible: Matthew 7:12

Several years ago a movie was released called “Pay It Forward,” based on the novel by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It stars Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and the adorable Haley Joel Osment, as a 12-year-old boy, Trevor McKinney

In the movie, Trevor is given an assignment by his social studies teacher, Mr. Simonet, to find a way to change the world and put it into action. Trevor conjures up the notion of paying a favor not back, but forward. In other words to repay good deeds not with payback, but with new good deeds done to three new people. Word of the Week: Legacy

Sixteen year old Hannah was nervous as she took the wheel for her first driving lesson. As she was pulling out of the parking lot, the instructor said, “Turn left here.” Then quickly added, “Oh, and don’t forget to let the people behind you know what you are doing.”

Immediately Hannah turned to the students sitting in the backseat and announced, “I’m turning left.”

Although Hannah misunderstood the teacher’s instructions, his advice is good not just for driving, but for life. “Let the people behind you know what you are doing.” Continue reading →
