Celebrate Social Media Day With Something Positive

Today, June 30th, is “World Social Media Day,” according to the National Holiday Calendar that cites unusual and little known “holidays.”

WSMD was first launched by the digital web site Mashable, June 30,2010, “as a way to recognize social media’s impact on global communication, and to bring the world together to celebrate it.”

There’s no denying, social media impacts all of us. Even those who don’t use social media are reminded of its presence and touched by its influence. Popular tweets and facebook posts are often reported on TV and radio and reprinted in newspapers, and magazines. Continue reading

Dealing With An “Oops” Moment

Yesterday’s blog post, Enjoying Life’s Simple Pleasures, that was sent to our email readers contained an inordinate number of errors. It was an oops moment. Let me explain.

Normally as I write, I do very little proofing as I type my thoughts. Often my ideas come in rapid-fire succession, so I don’t want to stop writing to proof read. When I’m finished, I pick out an appropriate picture. Then go back and proof. Most of the time, I will have Norma Jean read over it one more time, before sending it out. Continue reading

Post #1300. Should This Be The Last?

Good morning!

It was 56 months ago that we launched this blog, ThePreachersWord, as a means to expand our ministry. We started with no readers, no posts, and no “hits.”

Today, according to WordPress we have 3,673 followers and 156 topics categorized for easy reference. ThePreachersWord has been read in 190 countries and territories around the world! Our posts have been reblogged. Copied for bulletin articles. Used for short talks. And delivered as Lord supper devotions.

Now, we have reached another milestone. This is post #1300. So, I wonder is it time to quit. Let me share a few reasons why it makes sense to discontinue this endeavor. Continue reading
