I’m awake early this morning. Everyone else is asleep. I quietly made some coffee and escaped to Rachél’s studio to think.
It is very still, except for the humming of the air conditioner. The morning darkness and some ominous clouds hang heavy from the Florida sky. Probably another day of rain! I can feel the dense humidity! Continue reading

Last night Norma Jean and I visited the Church Family in Temple Terrace, Florida. When we walked in there were old friends Les and Linda Maydell visiting from South Africa! Soon we learned the church was concluding a gospel meeting with David Barnes from San Jose, California.
Also there were Florida College students visiting from all over the world! Some of the students we knew from other states. This and recent experiences remind me again of the vastness of our fellowship. Continue reading

His father challenges the young lion to take his rightful place as King of the Pridelands with these words: Continue reading

When Christ came to earth, he did not live up to the expectations of the Jewish people. He was born in mundane surroundings. A lowly manger. Amid the mixture of manure, blood, sweat and tears, the Messiah entered the world. Continue reading

Life is filled with many milestones. Some exciting. Others sad. Many that are the common experience of all human beings: Your first day at school. Graduation. Your first job. College. Marriage. And the birth of your first child.
Yesterday, September, 24, 2014, was such a milestone for the Weliever family. Our daughter, Rachél, gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby boy–Roy Sharp Thompson. He entered this world at 3:23 pm EST, weighed in at 7lb, 7 oz, and is 20″ long.

Jan Spencer tells a great story about a seminary who invited a famous liberal theologian be a guest lecturer. He spoke for over two hours “proving” that the resurrection of Jesus was false.
The professor quoted notable scholars and theological books. He concluded there was no such thing as the historical resurrection, The religious tradition of the church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact, never rose from the dead. Then he asked if there were any questions. Continue reading

One Sunday, a preacher took two jars to the pulpit and set them on a table. They looked identical. “These jars,” he told the congregation, “came from the same factory. They were made of the same materials. And they hold the same amount of liquid. But they are different.” Continue reading
