9 Words to Direct Your Life

Psalm119How are you going to live your life?  What is the basis?  The foundation? The standard?  What are your values?  Your morals?  Your ethics?  If there is not some basis, life becomes confusing and aimless.

The Psalmist said Ps 119:133  “Direct my steps by Your  word,  And let no iniquity have dominion over me.”

Psalm 119 provides valuable insight to living a holy life.  A happy life. A successful life.  Psalm 119 is unique.  It has 22 stanzas with 8 lines each.  It is an acrostic using the Hebrew alphabet and each line begins with the same letter.

Finding Comfort in Times of Chaos

BostonMarathonBombingThis has been a rough week for Americans.  A chaotic week.  An unnerving week.

First the terrorist bombing at the finish line of the world-famous Boston Marathon. Thankfully the two men who perpetrated these attacks have been caught.  But in the wake of this assault they have left death, destruction and devastation.  Families grieve the loss of loved ones.  People are suffering.  The aftermath will be felt for years to come. Praise the Lord!

The church was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Help and Hope For the Heavy Heart

Though written 3,000 years ago, the collection of Psalms are timeless as they address the human condition.  They speak to hearts that are heavy with sorrow, consciences laden with sin, and spirits that are crushed by outside circumstances often beyond our control.
