The failure of the new government-run, health-care web site has provided fodder for ridicule from both the left and the right of the political spectrum. It has given late night comedians material for their sarcastic jokes. Saturday Night Live mocked Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in a recent skit. Aaron and Melissa Klien have been the subject of protests. Boycotts. And Public outrage. In fact Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries has launched an official investigation.
“Everybody is entitled to their own beliefs, Commissioner Brad Avakian told The Oregonian but that doesn’t mean that folks have the right to discriminate.” Presumably in referring to the Klien’s, Avakian also said, “The goal is to rehabilitate.”

Sean and Hannah Gastonguay were fed up.
They were fed up with governmental intrusion in their lives. Fed up with moral state of America. Fed up with unfair taxation. Hannah said as Christians they don’t believe in ‘‘abortion, homosexuality, in the state-controlled church.” U.S. ‘‘churches aren’t their own,’’ Gastonguay said, suggesting that government regulation interfered with religious independence.

A poem that I memorized years ago by the British poet, Alexander Pope came to mind this week. It goes like this.

I’ve heard the truism of all my life that “silence implies consent.” This was a maxim with regard to law advocated by Sir Thomas Moore in the 16th century. Philosophically, Plato, the Greek philosopher wrote, “your silence gives consent.”
Apparently, that is no longer so in our topsy-turvy, politically correct culture. Especially as it relates to homosexuals. Continue reading
The Jury returned the verdict Monday. Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia physician, was convicted of first degree murder.
He was guilty of murdering three babies born alive in his abortion clinic.
He was guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the overdose death of an adult patient.
The grisly details reported by Fox News and the ensuing guilty verdict has shocked even abortion advocates and exposed the disturbing details of what really occurs in abortion clinics. I will spare our readers the appalling practices performed by Gosnell. But they were so shocking it is said reporters did not want to cover the trial and report it. That’s not my purpose here. He was the lead story on the national news. When Jay Leno opened his monologue Monday evening and said his name, the audience applauded their approval. Tuesday’s Today Show opened with his story. His colleagues have called him “courageous.” A Washington Post Reporter called him “brave.” Congressman Joseph Kennedy III said, “I’m so proud of him.” He received calls of congratulations and commendation from past President Clinton, and President Obama. Even his former fiancé said she was supportive and happy for him.
