Three Responses To the Reversal of Roe

I was one of those who doubted that Roe v Wade would ever be overturned. Last Friday’s Supreme Court Decision by a 6-3 majority proved me wrong. Thankfully.

In the past 10 ten years, ThePreachersWord has published  19 posts regarding the sin of abortion. While we’ve been focused on the Biblical teaching regarding the sanctity of life and the grave moral wrong of abortion, it’s worth noting some key sentences from the majority opinion written by Justice Alito. The Sanctity of Human Life

In one of his final acts before leaving office, President Donald Trump issued a proclamation declaring Friday, January 22nd, as “National Sanctity of Human Life Day.”

This celebration of life coincides with the anniversary of Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court’s 1973 landmark decision that allows a pregnant woman to abort her unborn child. Since then over 61 million unborn lives have been snuffed out, according to the American Life League.

“Every human life is a gift to the world,” the President wrote. “Whether born or unborn, young or old, healthy or sick, every person is made in the holy image of God.” Continue reading

Women Who Glory In Their Shame

Abortion.Mother.Baby

“I was 29, I was living in Seattle, I was in graduate school, I was dating someone…It was never a question. I got pregnant and I was like, ‘Well, alright, I guess I’m having an abortion,” relates Amelia Bonow in a matter of fact fashion.

Today is the 43rd anniversary of Roe v Wade and the abortion activists are working harder than ever to push back against the Pro-Life movement and make abortion seem like a simple, normal, rational decision that any woman would make. Continue reading

An Ignominious Anniversary

ChooseLife.2

Today is the 42th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion. That epic decision has now left over 57 million babies dead. And many women scarred for life. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. And Spiritually.

I agree with Norma McCorvey “I don’t think there is a good reason for an abortion….“It’s not your body, it’s not your choice, because you got that from God. He gave it to you.”

“Who’s Norma McCorvey?”  you ask.  “And what right does she have to say that?” Continue reading

Gosnell Guilty!

Kermit GosnellThe Jury returned the verdict Monday.  Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia physician, was convicted of first degree murder.

He was guilty of murdering three babies born alive in his abortion clinic.

He was guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the overdose death of an adult patient.

The grisly details reported by Fox News and the ensuing guilty verdict has shocked even abortion advocates and exposed the disturbing details of what really occurs in abortion clinics.  I will spare our readers  the appalling  practices performed by Gosnell.  But they were so shocking it is said reporters did not want to cover the trial and report it. That’s not my purpose here. Continue reading

It’s a Child. Not a Choice.

Baby.8.Weeks

“I don’t think there is a good reason for an abortion….“It’s not your body, it’s not your choice, because you got that from God.  He gave it to you.”

Guess who said that?

Not the Pope. Not a preacher.  Not a politician.  It was Norma McCorvey.  Don’t know her?  She was a Texas woman who at age 21 was pregnant for the third time.  She worked at a low paying job.  And Norma didn’t need another child. Continue reading
