God Calls Christians “To Belong”

Belong

It was one rainy day. In fact, it was more than rainy. It was a storm. The winds were blowing fiercely. The rains were descending in sheets. Thunder roared.  And lightening was flashing.   There were just a few people in the Officer’s Club.  An Army Chaplain and two officer’s wives were watching the storm through the big picture window.

Suddenly, through a flash of lightning, one of the women saw a solider standing outside on guard duty totally at the mercy of the raging storm. The Chaplain then overheard this exchange from the women. Continue reading

MEMBERSHIP: ITS BLESSINGS AND BENEFITS

“Membership has its Privileges” touts an American Express commercial.  The credit card and financial services company  has promoted the idea of membership for years.  Their slogan speaks of the benefits of membership.  The same is true of many clubs and organizations that are seeking to sell prospective members on the benefits of being in their organization. Legacy: Back To My Spiritual Roots

This week I’m in a meeting with a church in Butler County, Kentucky,  called Christian Home.  I’m not sure how it received that name, but it’s an old congregation.  Some have said over 100 years old.  My grandparents attended this church in the 1930’s.  My Mother, Mattie, was baptized here in Welch’s Creek. Spiritual Kinship

The Joy of Friendship and Fellowship

Norma Jean and I enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with dear friends  in Columbia,TN.  We worked together with these good people in the Kingdom for 11 years.  We worshiped together.  Laughed together. Cried together.  Rejoiced together. Ate together. Made memories together.  And now we had an opportunity to spend a little time together on the way to a new and exciting chapter in our lives.  Continue reading
