It’s Time To Declare War!

War.SpiritualArmor

Last night in an impassioned Talking Points memo, Fox News Commentator, Bill O’Reilly, said it is time to declare war on ISIS and other Muslim terrorist groups.

Following the public beheading of two American journalists, James Foley and Steven Sotloff, O’Reilly called for Congress to formally declare war on Islamic terrorists and for the President to sign it

There can be no doubt that ISIS and those of their ilk are at war with us. In a recent video one of their soldiers looked into the camera and sneered “I say to America that the Islamic Caliphate has been established. And we will not stop… we will raise the flag of Allah in the White House.” Continue reading

Is America The World’s Best Hope?

America.HopeWorld

“America is the most consequential nation on Earth, and in desperate need of God at the moment. If America falls, it will be a thousand years of darkness for the entire planet.”

Conservative political pundit Ann Coulter wrote the above words in a recent column entitled “Ebola Doc’s Condition Downgraded to ‘Idiotic.’” It was in response to Dr. Kent Brantly, the medical missionary, who contracted the deadly disease while serving in Liberia.  He, along with co-worker, Nancy Writebol, have been transported to Emory Medical Center in Atlanta where they are receiving treatment for the virus that has a 90% mortality rate.  Continue reading

What Can Christians Do As America’s Foundations Erode?

Bible and Cross Stars and Stripes Flag Retro

Tomorrow is Independence Day–the day we celebrate American’s freedom from Great Britain.  On July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, 56 courageous men signed the Declaration of Independence.

While the signers held varying religious beliefs, they were believers in God. This grand document is not only a revered part of our history, but the foundation of our republic. The Declaration  has five references to God—two in the first paragraph, one in the middle, and two in the last.  Continue reading

Upholding Truth In A Secular Society

Bible.Hands.Praying

One of our regular readers, Stephen, recently responded to my post last week, “What is Truth?”

“But how you (and other socially conservative Christians) commonly define “Truth” in rigid absolute right/wrong terms sometimes pushes me away,” Stephen wrote. “In saying that God’s “Truth” is absolutely clear-cut creates the Todd Aikens of this world.”  Continue reading

Coming Soon! “GOSNELL” The Movie

GosnellMovie

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the first degree murder conviction in the trial of Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor.

He was found guilty of murdering three babies born alive in his abortion clinic by severing their spines with scissors following delivery.   And convicted on two counts of gross negligence of two mothers.  In addition Gosnell was convicted for killing 21 babies in utero, which is not murder in these cases, but a violation of Pennsylvania’s legal-abortion limit. What’s the Real State of the Union?

StateofUnion

Tonight President Obama will deliver the traditional state of the union address.

CNN’s John King claims this year’s speech will be “a defining moment for President Obama.” Fox correspondent, Britt Hume opined that  State of the Union speeches don’t mean much.  And soon are largely forgotten.

Carrie Dann of NBC News says the POTUS may say some things like… Continue reading

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Phil Everly. Music. And Marriage.

Phil Everly, left, and brother Don perform on ITV's Saturday Spectacular in 1960.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly theme by social media users to post past photos of themselves.  In that spirit I’m posting a 1960 picture of the Everly Brothers.  Phil is on the left and his brother Don is on the right.  I hadn’t thought about them in a long time, until I recently learned that Phil passed away.    Continue reading

What’s the World Coming To?

NewsRecent news headlines are pretty depressing.

“No Pants Subway Day” Yes, it is what it sounds like!  In 60 cities across the world people rode the subway sans their pants.  Acting as if everything was normal people waited, boarded and rode the subway in their boxers, briefs and panties.  The twelfth annual event is said to have attracted over 4,000 participants in New York City.

As we shake our collective heads in utter disbelief and disgust, there is more…. Continue reading
