Louisianan Bob Oren Bass claims this is a true story.
A woman was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sacramento along the way.. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes.
Everybody got off the plane except one lady who was blind. The man had noticed her as he walked by and could tell the lady was blind because her Seeing Eye dog, Buddy, lay quietly underneath the seats in front of her throughout the entire flight. Continue reading

Warren Wiersbe relates a story about a reporter who was interviewing a successful job counselor. He had helped hundreds of workers find happiness and fulfillment in their vocations. When asked the secret of his success the man offered this insight.
“If you want to find out what a worker is really like, don’t give him responsibilities give him privileges. Most people can handle responsibilities if you pay them enough, but it takes a real leader to handle privileges. A leader will use his privileges to help others and build the organization; a lesser man will use privileges to promote himself.” Continue reading

The neighbor explained that he couldn’t loan him the mower because all the flights had been canceled from New York to Los Angeles.

By definition, a paradox is “a statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory or absurd but in reality, expresses a possible truth.”
Jesus often spoke truths that contained a paradox. Here are three examples.
“Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it” (Matt 10:38).
“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 18:14).

Jeff Strite relates an interesting story about a woman who came to a preacher for counseling.
The woman said her husband had become distant. Her children were rebellious. They were deep in debt. Now she was experiencing medical problems.
The preacher said the more she talked the more depressed HE became. He wasn’t sure how to advise her. He admitted that he thought, “Your case is hopeless. There is no way out.” Of course, he couldn’t tell her that. So as many good counselors do, he asked her a question. Continue reading
