As we stand on the brink of 2017, I’m reminded of the words of the famous philosopher Dr. Seuss who said.
“How did it get so late so soon?
It’s night before it’s afternoon.
December is here before it’s June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?”
It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were anticipating and celebrating the dawn of the new millennium! (At least for some of us) Indeed, “time flies.” And Chaucer was right, “time and tide waits for no man”
All of which reminds me that we are completing our fifth year of ThePreachersWord. Five years ago I was looking for a way to expand my ministry. Time and opportunity had come together in an unexpected and unique way for me to consider blogging as a means to share the Word. Five years ago I didn’t know what a blogger was. “Now I are one!”
According to WordPress, today’s post is #1386. We have 3,776 followers and 157 topics categorized for easy reference. ThePreachersWord has been read in over 190 countries and territories around the world. Our posts have been reblogged. Copied for bulletin articles. Short talks. And Lord’s supper devotions.
But now it’s time for a little holiday break. Time to relax a bit. Time to go see our grandsons–Roy and Miles.
So, for the final days of the year, we want to reblog (yes, that’s now a word!) the most read posts during 2016. It will be fun to see what our readers have enjoyed and shared with others. Plus it’s an opportunity for new readers to peek into the past.
We rejoice for whatever good has been accomplished in the past 5 years, and for whatever way our readers have been helped, encouraged and edified. We appreciate our readers’ comments, questions, suggestions, and words of encouragement. Most of all, may God be glorified through this effort.
Merry Christmas, my dear readers! And to each of you we wish a Happy New Year!
