During the past month since moving to Denton County, Texas, we’ve met a lot of new people. Especially those in our church family at West Main in Lewisville. As you to get to know people, and build relationships, one of the first questions often asked is “Where do you work?” Sometimes we simply ask, “What do you do?” And it is understood that you asking about their job, profession or business.
We are interested in what people do for a living. Occupations tell us a lot about a person. Their background. Education. Experiences. Whether intended or not, the answer often indicates one’s social-economic standing. Continue reading

Sunday night something happened in the NBA playoffs that has never happened before in its illustrious 70 year history.
The Cleveland Cavilers rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win the title. In doing so they beat the reigning champion Golden State Warriors who had posted the best record in the history of the league, 73-9.
When the Cavs were down 3-1, ESPN only gave them an 8% chance of winning the title. Golden State was only 1 win away with a 92% of securing the championship. Yet, led by super star, LaBron James, the Cavs beat the odds and achieved something everyone thought impossible. Continue reading

It has now been one week since Muslim extremist, Ormar Mateen, unleashed an assault on the Orlando nightclub , Pulse, billed as “a gay bar and dance club.” 49 men and women were murdered and over 50 injured.
It is well documented that Mateen shouted Allah Akbar” and even called 911 during the shooting to pledge allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
It is also well-known that under Sharia law Muslims go beyond condemning homosexuality. They believe homosexuals must be punished by death. Continue reading

Everyone matters.
“Everyone Matters” is a global campaign to promote “compassion, self-acceptance, acceptance of others, and empowerment” for people everywhere. Their goal is noble. And the concept is definitely Biblical.
On their facebook page I came across the story of Emelie Crecco. This incident happened to her three years ago. The perky, pretty young 20 year old wheeled into a handicap space in a shopping centered parking lot. Jumped out of her car. And headed to the store.
