Our confidence in God provides peace of mind, purpose in life, and hope for the future.  As Corrie Ten Boom put it, “Faith is like a radar that sees through the fog of reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see.  Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible.” Continue reading

4 Facts About Faith That Will Change Your Life

Darrel Pace  was a world champion Archer. He won four consecutive world championships from 1973 through 1976 and Olympic gold medals in 1976 and 1984.

One time Pace put on  an archery exhibition in Central Park.  TV reporters gathered  to watch him shoot steel-tipped hunting arrows with flawless accuracy.

At one point Pace asked for a volunteer. “All you have to do,” Darrel explained, “is hold this apple in your hand, waist-high.”  ABC correspondent, Josh Howell,  boldly stepped forward to volunteer. Continue reading

Word of the Week: Faith

Faith.Word

One night a family’s house caught fire and they were forced to run outside. However, the fire blocked their path to the upstairs bedroom where their son was sleeping. The father yelled for the son to open his bedroom window.

On the ground below the boy’s father he knew his son had to jump to save his life. “Jump!” hollered the frantic father, “Jump, I’ll catch you!”

All the frightened little fellow could see, however, was smoke, flames and the darkness of the night. He was scared to jump. Continue reading

Are You Willing to Die for Jesus?

From Pakistan to Egypt.  From Kenya to Syria.  And all across the Muslim world it has been an “open season on Christians.”  Seventy-eight people professing Christianity were slaughtered Sunday by twin suicide bombers at a church in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.

In a Kenyan shopping mall, a gang of Islamic extremists from Somalia murdered at least 68 workers and shoppers.  Reportedly they shouted for “Muslims to get out-of-the-way so they could specifically kill Christians.” Continue reading

When Our Faith is on Trial

Trial“These are the times that try men’s souls,” wrote Founding Father Thomas Paine in The American Crisis, as he described the beginning of the American Revolution.

Today in America we face a different kind of trial.  A culture crisis.  A clash of thought.  Of Philosophy. Of basic beliefs. It is a culture war between the Judeo-Christian ethic on which our country was founded, and post-modernism, which rejects Christian values and seeks to eliminate religious thought from the public life. The Victory of Faith

Do you wear Nike shoes?  If you watch TV, I know you’ve seen a Nike commercial and heard the  slogan “Just Do It.”  But do you know what Nike means?  Did you know it is a Bible word?

In Greek mythology Nike was the goddess of victory, who presided over all military and athletic contests.  The Greek word nike” (nee’kay) is the word for victory in I John 5:4. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.” Continue reading
