Friday’s List To Live By #51

“The most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not,” once wrote Thomas L. Huxley.

Huxley was talking about self-discipline.

Today’s list, condensed from “The Pillars of Christian Character: The Basic Essentials of a Living Faith” by John MacArthur, is about how to develop self-discipline.

10 Ways To Develop Self-Discipline

#1 Start with small things.

#2 Get Organized.

#3 Don’t constantly seek to be entertained.

#4 Be on time.

#5 Keep your word.

#6 Do the most difficult tasks first.

#7 Finish what you start.

#8 Accept correction.

#9 Practice self-denial.

#10 Welcome responsibility.

“I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified” (1 Cor 9:27).

–Ken Weliever, The Preacherman
