Worship Celebrates Christ

“The focus of worship,” writes Robert Webber, “is not human experience, not a lecture,  not entertainment, but Jesus Christ—his life, death, and resurrection.”

Without Jesus why would we be going to church?  What would be the purpose of worship? The  object of our praise?

Without Jesus…

There would be no virgin birth to celebrate.

There would be no life to emulate.

There would be no teaching to contemplate.

There would be no crucifixion to venerate.

There would be no resurrection to commemorate.

There would be no Gospel to annunciate.

There would be no heaven to anticipate.

And so today as we go to worship, we raise our voices with those of the angels, elders and living creatures and proclaim:  “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.” (Rev.5:12)

Amen?   Amen and amen!
