The wise man wrote in Proverbs 17:6 “Children’s children are a crown to the aged.” Well, Norma Jean and I just gained another jewel in our crowns. Her name is Katherine Joy Weliever. She was born April 13, 2017. At 7:35 am. In Lafayette, LA. She weighted in at 5 lbs 13 oz. And is 20″ long.
Oh, and the parents, Kenny and April are doing great! And Grammy? Well, she’s on cloud 9! And Papaw couldn’t be any prouder. Continue reading

Last night Norma Jean and I attended the Florida College Lectures. What a wonderful pleasure to join with brethren from all over the United States in singing, praying and reflecting on God’s word. There was joy in seeing old friends. Of sharing hugs and handshakes. Smiles and tears. And some good memories of by gone days.
The theme this year is “From the Beginning: Recovering the Divine Design for Marriage and Family.” Doy Moyer, a gospel preacher from the Birmingham area, delivered the key note address on the topic “In The Beginning: God’s Created Order for Male and Female.” Continue reading

Very softy he kept repeating encouraging words like “Calm down, Brian.” “Don’t yell, Brian.” “Don’t get excited, Brian.” “It’s going to be ok, Brian.”

Since today is Mother’s day, we wanted to share our word of the week, Mother, a day early.
Mother’s Day is not a holy day, or a religious holiday. It is a day that we honor Christ. But the Lord we serve said, through the apostle Paul in Ephesians. 6:2, “honor your mother.” And so, as we give honor to our mothers, we are giving honor to the Lord. Continue reading

On this day in history, November 10,1925, a baby girl was born in Butler County, Kentucky. She was the third of seven children. However, her birth went unnoticed by the world. Nor will it be listed among the important events on this day.
While her upbringing was simple and unsophisticated their family was close-knit, bathed in love, and based on Christian values and virtues. When she turned 18, she moved to Indianapolis to work in a factory. There she met the man of her dreams, would marry, quit work and begin a family. She would be unknown to anyone outside of her immediate family and friends. She would be a homemaker and help her husband in carving out a middle class lifestyle. Continue reading

Life is filled with many milestones. Some exciting. Others sad. Many that are the common experience of all human beings: Your first day at school. Graduation. Your first job. College. Marriage. And the birth of your first child.
Yesterday, September, 24, 2014, was such a milestone for the Weliever family. Our daughter, Rachél, gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby boy–Roy Sharp Thompson. He entered this world at 3:23 pm EST, weighed in at 7lb, 7 oz, and is 20″ long.
