Who’s Going To Do The Work?

I came across this piece on a church facebook page a few weeks ago. I had to chuckle because it’s a version of an old article seen in church bulletins years ago.

In fact, it’s so old that I doubt any of our younger readers have ever seen it. And for that matter, maybe even most of our older readers.

It’s supposedly a letter to the preacher from an anonymous member. Continue reading

The Bigger the “Why”….

Jim Rohn is an American author, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. His simple, down to earth, even folksy method of communication has inspired audiences for decades.

While Rohn’s writings and speech focus on self improvement, leadership, communication and goal setting, there’s definitely a spiritual basis and application in much of his material.

On his facebook page, Jim Rohn Daily Motivation, he offers this insightful thought. Continue reading

Matt was a gospel preacher, an excellent writer, and an accomplished hymnist. Among them was “Exalted” a hymn often sung by our brethren. Matt touched our hearts with his posts regarding suffering, facing death, and his hope of heaven founded in his deep faith. Continue reading

Changing Lives By Changing Hearts

My facebook friend and preaching colleague, Edwin Crozier, has apparently been reading a book by Dallas Willard this week entitled, “Renovation of the Heart: Putting on the Character of Christ,”

Edwin has posted several quotes from Willard to challenge our thinking about our Christian discipleship, the condition of our heart and our motives. I found them thought provoking. I hope you will too. Continue reading

How Much of Your Heart Belongs to God?

My facebook friend from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Louis Cook, shared this piece and thought provoking question, “How much of your heart belongs to God?

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart!” (Ps. 119:12) Continue reading
