Be a Lighthouse for The Lord

Yesterday, Norma Jean and I drove over to St. Catharines, Ontario, and saw the Port Dalhousie Range Lighthouses. There are two lighthouses on this site, both built in the late 1800s.

Now imagine this. Today, August 7th, is National Lighthouse Day. Yep. That’s a thing, according to the holiday calendar of unusual holidays and celebrations. Ironic, eh? Continue reading

Matthew 19:3-6: Marriage in the Beginning

This month, Norma Jean and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.

We married at a time when divorce rates were increasing, due to a change of laws that introduced no-fault divorce and a shift in moral values. The divorce rate peaked at about 50%. In recent years, the number has decreased slightly and is now approximately 42%. Continue reading

Post #4000: To God Be the Glory

On January 1, 2012, in Okeechobee, Florida, from the winter home of my Uncle, David Key, we launched ThePreachersWord. The first post, early that morning, was “Preaching through Blogging.” Later that day, I sent out a second post, “Beginning Again,” celebrating the new year.

Now, here we are 13 years and 7 months later, still posting. WordPress tells me that today is a significant milestone. It is post #4000. So, pardon a bit of reflection and celebration today. Continue reading

A link click, however, revealed the source was Madiha Batool who authored a book “Deep Minds Anonymous,” a collection of her poetry, thoughts, and feelings focused on empowering women. Continue reading
