Transgender News and Views

While social media in general and facebook in particular contain much that is negative and discouraging, some posts, however, are positive and encouraging.

Today’s facebook Friday offers some news and views recently posted concerning the latest woke craze regarding transgenderism. We begin with a positive story from a Vermont School.

The Mid Vermont School girls basketball team withdrew from the Vermont Division IV state tournament because of a refusal to play against an opponent with a transgender student-athlete.

VNews reported more details on the forfeit:

The No. 12 seed Eagles were scheduled to play a first-round game at No. 5 seed Long Trail on Tuesday night, but their withdrawal forfeited the game to the Mountain Lions.

“We believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players,” MVCS head of school Vicky Fogg wrote in an email to the Valley News on Wednesday evening. “Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general.”

Fogg was not available for a comment according to Vnews, but no comment was needed. The female players and team took a stand for what’s right and that’s the most important part of the story.

Good for Ms Fogg and these girls in taking this courageous stand and setting an example  fairness and Truth.

Then Cyndi Wilson Wickerham offered this insight.

I have wondered why the feminists, the ones who pushed for gender equality (especially in sports. Title IX), have not been speaking out against the “transgender” movement. That movement takes away from women’s rights. Then someone suggested I read “The Abolition of Sex.” It is written by a feminist. Evidently a leading feminist. But I went ahead and bought and read it anyway. While I don’t agree with everything in it, it sure opened my eyes. The feminists HAVE spoken out. And have been silenced. They have been fired from jobs for speaking out. It doesn’t make the news because it is against the agenda. Please buy and read this book. She even gives suggestions for what conservatives can and should do. Make my conservative heart happy.

“Transgender brainwashing in schools is what happens when people reject common sense to worship their mood swing,” opined my facebook friend and preaching colleague, Frank Walton. He then posted a quote from Bill Maher who commented on allowing children to choose their gender.

“Kids are fluid about everything, Maher observed. “If they know at age 8 what they wanted to be, the world would be filled with cowboys and princesses.” He recalled, “I wanted to be a pirate. Thank God no one scheduled me for eye removal and peg leg surgery.”

Finally my friend and fellow preacher, Perry Hall, offered this thought.

“If gender and sex are not the same, and gender is not defined by biology, then those affirming such have defeated their own argument as to why transgender people should use the bathrooms according to how they identify according to gender. Think through this. Public bathrooms are designed according to biological sex which is why men’s bathrooms have urinals. When it comes to bathrooms, “plumbing” matters. So if sex and gender are different, then use the bathroom designed for your biology, not your feelings. After all, you have already argued sex is different from gender.”

Of course, the entire issue of sex and gender could be simply solved by people, and our leaders subjugating their feelings, opinions and twisted desires to God’s creative purpose for humankind when he “created them male and female” (Gen. 1:27; 5:2).

I give Jesus the final word on the subject and accept His conclusion when he said, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female” (Matt. 19:4).
