Do You Have a Target on Your Back?

In a recent Op-Ed for The Christian Post, Michael Brown, an author, radio host and Christian apologist, told about an occasion several years ago of offering to help an organization with whom he had worked in the past.

The group liked Brown’s work. They agreed with his values and positions on issues. And he was willing to offer his expertise without regard to compensation. However, they never accepted his offer. Continue reading

James 2:1-13

I recently read that the 20th century Indian activist, Mahatma Gandhi, as a young man once considered converting to Christianity, thinking it would be the catalyst to emancipate India from the caste system.

After reading the gospels and  the teaching of Jesus, he thought applying Christian principles would solve the situation that deeply divided his people. So, one Sunday, he visited a nearby “Christian church.” Continue reading

Neighbor Helping Neighbor

Too often in the wake of a natural disaster, like hurricane Ian, negative news takes center stage.

The disaster and damage by the hurricane’s force. The death toll. Price gouging. Looting. Petty crimes. Frayed nerves. And anxious, worried faces looking forlorn into the camera.

While these conditions exist, they should not overshadow the goodness of people, and the outpouring of humanitarian response to help the hurting. Continue reading

And for 50 years she’s been trying to quit. Every attempt failed, until…

Weekly Recap: September 26-30

Good Morning from Beverly  Hills, Florida

Well, what a week it’s been in our neck of the woods.  Seems like the whole week has been about Ian.  But not completely..

Sunday morning we drove over to Orlando and preached twice for the South Bumby Church.  It was a wonderful day of worship and fellowship together with these fine brethren.  You can hear the worship service lesson, Pressing Toward the Prize,  from their web page.
