Bonus October Blogs from ThePreachersWord

Those who are regular readers know that I post 5 days a week—Monday-Friday.  However, this month I am participating in the Ultimate Blog Challenge.  The challenge for bloggers is to post something every day in the month of October.

My plan is to use Saturday to share a little humorous story with a short, simple moral to it.  And on Sunday to post a seed thought pertaining to the Lord’s Day.

So, to start, here’s one of my favorite stories…..

During the heyday of the Texas Rangesrs, around the turn of the century, a Mexican bank robber, Jore Rodriguez, was operating around the border robbing Texas banks.  The Rangers never could seem to catch him.  So they deployed an extra posse along the Rio Grande to try to stop him.

Sure enough, one of the special Rangers saw Jorge slipping across the river late one afternoon. He trailed at a safe distance to the little village where he lived.  He watched him mingle with the towns folks.  Hang out in the square around the town well.  And then to his favorite Cantina to relax.

Slowly the Ranger eased into the Cantina.  And before he knew it, there was a pistol pressed against Jorge’s head.  “I know who you are Jorge Rodriguez, and I have come to get back all the money you have stolen from the banks in Texas. Unless you give it to me, I am going to blow your brains out” threatened the Ranger.

However there was one small problem.  Jorge did not speak English.  And the Texas Ranger did not speak Spanish.  It literally was a Mexican standoff!

However, an enterprising little Mexican approached the Ranger and said, “Señor, “I am bilingual. Do you want me to be your translator?” The Ranger nodded.  And the translator told Jorge what the Ranger had said.   Nervously, Rodiguez replied in Spanish, “Tell the big Texas Ranger that I have not spent a cent of the money.  Tell him to go to the town well, face north, count down five stones, he will find a loose stone there. Pull it out and all the money is behind there. Tell him quickly!  Pleeeese!”

The little Mexican translator turned the Ranger with a solemn look on his face said in perfect English, “Jorge Rodriguez say He is a brave man. He says he is ready to die.”

Moral to the story: What you don’t know can hurt you!

Jesus said, “You shall know the truth.  And the truth shall make you free.”

Have a great day!

Ken – I look forward to reading your blogs each day before I start to teach my 7th graders. The LORD has most assuredly blessed you a lot of wisdom, talent and a refreshing sense of humor! May HE continue to bless you in HIS service!
