With so much emphasis today on the physical and material, even when it comes to matters regarding the Lord’s church, we need to be reminded that God’s primary focus is on the spiritual. The Bible speaks of….
Spiritual things. 1 Cor. 2:13
Spiritual people. 1 Cor 3:1
Spiritual seed. 1 Cor. 9:11
Spiritual sustenance. 1 Cor. 10: 3
Spiritual gifts. Rom 1:11
Spiritual blessings. Eph. 1:4
Spiritual songs. Eph. 5:10
Spiritual body. 1 Cor 15:44
Spiritual warfare. Eph. 6:12
Spiritual understanding. Col. 1:9
Spiritual House. Pet. 2:9
Spiritual sacrifice. 1 Pet. 2:5
Spiritual Rock. 1 Cor 10:4
If we are to be God’s spiritual people, we must allow the spiritual seed to germinate in our hearts, think on spiritual things, and be nourished by the spiritual food and drink He offers, which will enhance our spiritual understanding. As we join with others in God’s spiritual House, offering spiritual sacrifices, praising God with spiritual songs and seeking to employ our spiritual gifts in service to Him, we will enjoy the spiritual blessings that are in Christ.
When Satan seeks to assault our souls we must engage in spiritual warfare against the forces evil. In all that we do we rely on our spiritual Rock, Jesus Christ, looking one day to receive that spiritual body that will not decay, be corrupted or suffer death.
May we resolve on this day to redirect our energies, efforts and priorities to emphasize the things of God—spiritual things that will endure the passing of time.
