It’s Time For Christians To Get Radical!

Radical Truth

“Suppose every follower of Jesus of Nazareth were as obedient to His commands as the Jihadists are to Muhammad and Allah?”

This question was raised in a recent transcript by columnist Cal Thomas. It’s a thought-provoking  question. An intriguing question. A challenging question. Continue reading

Is Hell Really A“Groovy” Place?

Hell.3549464622_9e432728f3_b

In his morning Transcript today, Cal Thomas, wrote about the recent death of  Swedish actress Anita Ekberg.  I didn’t recognize her name or the famous film that Thomas mentioned.  So I googled her name.

Anita Ekberg is described as an “International Screen Beauty” and a “1950’s Sex Symbol.” But she did appear in the movie “Abbott and Costello Go to Mars.”  So, I may have seen her years ago and didn’t remember!  However, what caught my attention was a quote that came during an interview at her 75th birthday.  Continue reading

RESTITUTION NOT RETRIBUTION: What Price Should The Rioters Pay?

looting

Former NBA star Charles Barklay, who is never shy about expressing his opinions, called the Ferguson rioters “scumbags.”

In a rare TV appearance, African-American Economist and author, Thomas Sowell, commented on the aftermath of the riots saying, “I think what has happened in Ferguson, Missouri, is going to adversely affect blacks yet unborn, who will still be paying the price for it 10, 20 years from now because they’re not going to have businesses there that you had before.”

Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. condemned rioting and violent protests. “I believe rioting is actually an unnecessary evil,” King said. Continue reading

An Alternative Response to Ferguson

Freguson

Last night Norma Jean and I watched the events unfold in Ferguson, Missouri.   We live on the other side of the state, 237 miles away, but it seemed like it was happening in our back yard.

Following three months of hearing witnesses and evaluating evidence, Prosecutor Bob McCullough announced the Grand Jury’s decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown.  Continue reading

Gene Robinson, the Episcopal bishop whose open and brazenly homosexual lifestyle ripped apart his denomination, announced that he is divorcing his male partner of 25 years.

Robinson made national news when he was elected as the first openly homosexual bishop of the Episcopal church in 2003. In protest, Conservative Episcopalians quit the church and formed the Anglican church in North America.  Continue reading

Can We Win “The War on Poverty”?

Fifty years ago today, January 8, 1964,  President Lyndon Johnson, in his state of the union address declared “an unconditional war on poverty in America.”

According to analysis by the Cato Institute our government at the federal and state level has spent in excess of $15 Trillion on anti-poverty programs in the past 50 years.  And the result?  Almost the same number of people are living below the poverty level as in 1964.  Columnist Cal Thomas quipped, “The lack of government programs did not cause poverty, and spending vast sums of money has not eliminated it.” Continue reading

Since the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision last week in overturning DOMA, I’ve been wanting to write something about it.  About America’s headlong decent into the moral abyss. About the importance of moral boundaries and standards.  However, today, I read this piece by columnist, Cal Thomas, and want to share it on ThePreachersWord since it expresses my thoughts succinctly, accurately, and Biblically.  Continue reading
