He Gets Us. But Do We Get Him?

If you watched the Super Bowl, you may have seen the ads, “He Gets Us” sponsored by wealthy believers in Jesus.

Similar ads ran in last year’s Super Bowl. And they have been occasionally run throughout the year.

How to Live in a Secular Society

Democratic presidential candidate, Beto O’Rourke, stated that churches, charities, and other organizations that oppose same-sex marriage should lose their tax-exempt status.

“There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone … that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us.” O’Rourke told a cheering audience. “And so as president, we are going to make that a priority, and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans.” Continue reading

Four Expectations from Worship

In his book, When GOD Builds a Church, Bob Russell suggests there are four things we should legitimately expect from authentic worship. (1) A sense of God’s Presence. (2) A Conviction of our Sinfulness.  (3) A Joyful Reminder of God’s Grace.  (4) The Inspiration to Serve. While there may be other expectations, I can’t disagree with these four. Continue reading
