Well, we’re back in Florida after a wonderful visit with our Canadian brethren. I either preached or taught a class 14 times during July. Also we counted 20 occasions where we enjoyed fellowship and hospitality with the brethren either in their home or at a restaurant. Well, our time in the home of the Canucks is swiftly coming to an end.
Tomorrow I’m preaching my final lesson at Wellandport. Then we are heading back to the states on Monday. It’s been great being with our special friends and brethren. We’ve enjoyed sharing the Word. The excitement of VBS. Making new friends. Fellowship over good food. In home hospitality. Seeing The Falls (again) and marveling over God’s awesome power (again). The best Gelato this side of Italy. Cooler weather. Laugher. Love. And even a few tears. We may go home, but these wonderful folks will continue to occupy a special place in our hearts. Continue reading

Greetings from Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada.
Or as locals in the region call it, “The Port.” It’s a neat area with the Welland canal connecting Lake Ontario with Lake Erie. It’s fascinating to watch these huge barges inch their way through the locks as they are lowered and raised. If you ever come to Niagara Falls its worth a trip to see it. While you can watch from The Port or one of the other 8 locks, one of the best places to watch is Lock 7 at Thorold, where there is a watching station. Continue reading

We’ve had a great week here already. Celebrating Canada Day (July 1) and our July 4th Independence Day. Greater, however, is the wonderful association we enjoy with the brethren here in the Niagara Region. In addition to Lord’s Day worship and Wednesday evening Bible study, we’ve enjoyed Sunday dinner, a cookout, Gelato, ice cream , a wonderful Italian dinner, and today a soccer game –all of this with many of our friends and brethren in the area. Our much anticipated return to Canada is now a reality. We arrived late afternoon on Thursday. Our trip was smooth. And without any problems. Plus we are here in time to join with our Northern friends in celebrating Canada Day today.

Well, things are heating up here FL. But it’s fixin’ to get hotter for us as we’re heading to Houston today.
We are attending the Southside Lectures in Pasadena, where I will be speaking four times (Mon-Thurs), on the theme “What Says the Scripture?” We are not only excited about the opportunity, but looking forward to seeing many of our Texas friends as well as being with the other speakers. Yesterday morning Norma Jean and I were drinking coffee on our pool deck and enjoying a pleasant 68 degrees. She turned to me and wishfully said, “This is nice. Why can’t it be like this all summer?”.
Well it won’t. Temperatures will soon heat up. And the daily rains are coming. It’s called weather patterns. And it’s called change. It reminds me of one sage who quipped, “change is the only constant in life.” Continue reading

It’s been a wonderful week here in lovely Citrus county. We’re blessed to live here. To bask in the warm sunshine. To enjoy being close to our family. To have an opportunity to minister in the Word. And share these blog posts every day.
However, we realize in the midst of our enjoyment, there is sickness, suffering and death. We learned this week of the passing of a friend from the Kansas City area, Bob Harmon. He was 94. His funeral service is today. And even though his family and friends rejoice in the godly life he lived and the hope in which he died, he will be missed.
