We welcome new readers.  We hope you continue reading and following our daily blog. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: December 4-8

Greetings from Beverly Hills, Florida

Just so our friends up North know, not everything is sunshine and lollipops here in Florida.

Our templatizes dipped into the upper 30’s this week.  And the highs never got out of the 60’s for several days.  Wednesday night I had to wear a sweater to Church.  Yep.  We have cold weather too.  But today is predicting a high of 81. Happy days are here again.

Well, enough “complaining.”  We’re richly blessed in so many ways.  And thankful for the opportunities to minister in the Word–regardless of the weather.

This week, as noted in our Wednesday post, marked blog post #3500.  If you’re new to ThePreachersWord, you can easily access any of the 3500 posts based on the categories listed, or use the WordPress search engine using a key word or Bible verse. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: November 27-December 1

Greetings from Citrus County, Florida

Our traveling has ended for 2023 and we plan to be home for the month of December, enjoying time with family, and sharing the Word at the West Citrus Church in Crystal River.

Tomorrow I will be preaching at the Sunday morning worship service, and beginning a class on The Heart of Christianity.  On Wednesday evening I am teaching a class on the book of Ecclesiastes.  Apparently, the reports of my “retirement” have been greatly exaggerated.  Continue reading

Weekly Recap: November 6-10

Greetings from Beverly Hills, FL

Today is Veterans Day,  a day in the United States where we honor those. both living and dead who’ve served in the military.  We’ve included a bonus post that speaks to those who’ve served, but it also has a spiritual application as we think of  the veterans of  faith.

Also, all day yesterday, I was reminded that November 10th would have been my Mom’s 98th birthday,  So, I’m sharing a past post in honor of her memory. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: October 30-November 3

Time passes slowly when you’re young, and quickens as you get old. Summer lasted forever when I was seven, but now it only visits,” opines author Sonya Hartnet.

With this weekly post we’re reminded of the rapid passing of time.  It’s November.  Thanksgiving will soon be here.  Then before you know it, it’s Christmas.  Then a new year.  Lord willing.  Also this is the day we set our clocks back 1 hour before we go to bed tonight. Continue reading

Weekly Recap: October 23-27

Greetings from The Great Smoky Mountains

We’ve been blessed with a wonderful week in the Smokies, enjoying the Fall foliage,  some special R & R, and some good ole Tennessee food.

We’ve also enjoyed our fellowship with the Cosby church, where I will be preaching again tomorrow at their 11:00 AM worship service.  If you’re vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, we recommend this church family as a wonderful place to worship.  It’s an easy, and scenic, 15-20 minute drive east of Gatlinburg on 321. Weekly Recap: October 16-20

Greeting from Cobbly Nob, TN

After a wonderful and well received Gospel Meeting in Martinsville, VA, and a few days in the Bryson City area, we are concluding our trip North with a visit to our happy place–Cobbly Nob in the Smoky Mountains.

This year we’re staying at the Deer Ridge Mountain Resort between Gatlinburg and Cosby.  This place almost seems like home, since we got “stranded” here for 8 weeks in 2020 during COVID. I know, not a bad place to be “stranded.”  We love the view.  It’s away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but close enough to enjoy some of the restaurants and activities there. Weekly Recap: October 9-13

Greetings from Martinsville, VA

Norma Jean and I are enjoying the Fall weather and the hospitality of the brethren at the Chatham Heights church while I’m conducting a gospel meeting here.

It’s been good to reconnect with an old friend from Plainfield, Indiana, John Berlin, who recently retired from full-time preaching, as well as make a new friend, their current preacher, Eric Bridge. The meeting has been well-attended and the interest in the lessons  is very encouraging.  We appreciate the opportunity to share the Word and the kindness of these good brethren. Continue reading
