Sowing Seeds to Benefit Others

“Success is knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others,” wrote John Maxwell in his book The Success Journey.

True success in any area of life is not independent from other people. We learn from others. Find inspiration from others. And receive encouragement from others.

But more than that, much of our satisfaction in life is derived from helping other people. By lifting them up. By feeling like we’re making a difference. By knowing that our life matters. Continue reading

The Path To God

“Are there many paths to God?” asked David Banning as he began his lecture Wednesday morning at Southside.

Religious surveys reveal that about 70% of Americans believe there are many ways to God. Surprisingly, however, an October 2022 poll showed that 56% of Evangelicals believed all religions are equally valid. “More professing Christians reject the exclusivity of Christ,” the survey said than at any previous time in history Continue reading

What Says The Scripture?

Yesterday morning David Banning and Jordan Shouse kicked off the 43rd annual Southside Lectures. David spoke about “Handling the Scripture.” And Jordan exhorted us to “Stand Firm for God.”

Both lessons reminded us of the sacredness of the Scripture. Their relevance in the 21st century. And need for each of us to respect their authority. It’s an age old plea but one that bears repeating to each generation on a regular basis. Continue reading

Making the Case for Being Trans

While there may be much to be said that is negative about social media, there are also many positive posts.  On Facebook Friday we share something each week that catches our attention.  It may be funny. Insightful. Informative.  Or instructive.  Sometimes we use it as a springboard to comment. Other times, we publish without additional comments.

Today’s post is from the page of  F. LaGard Smith.  He offers an interesting and unexpected twist on being Trans.  Don’t give up on the article. Read it to the end. Continue reading
