I’m sending out this additional blog post today with a special prayer request for my wife, Norma Jean.
Feel free to share with others as you feel appropriate.
Since February Norma has been dealing with some abdominal pressure, pain, and a bloating feeling. Forgoing the details of numerous doctors visits and tests, two things have been discovered.
#1 She has a condition called Gastroparesis, which slows down the movement of food from the stomach to the small intestines. After eating a small amount of food she feels full.
#2 In addition, a CT scan and sonogram revealed a uterine submucosal fibroid, which the GYN surgeon determined needs to be removed via a hysterectomy. Her surgery, using a robotic method, is scheduled for June 9th at Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Three years ago Norma was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. With medication she’s done pretty well managing the symptoms. However, since it is a neurological disease, she’s prone to some anxiety and agitation. Obviously, these two issues have produced some added stress, which is not good for her PD.
We appreciate you adding Norma to your personal prayer list for a successful surgery on June 9th. And for a speedy recovery.

Norma Jean I’m praying for you. You Norma are blessed to be a blessing. Your very name conveys the symbol of a carpenter’s square, the symbol of St. Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus who inspires every father and husband who builds a home to rely on his carpenter’s square.
May these words from the Pauline Letter to the Philippians remind you: “Let your gentleness be apparent to all. The Lord is near.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Ken and Norma Jean, both of you will be in our prayers for full recovery and the patience to deal with both illbesses. God is good and His will will be done. I often recite to myself over and over, Ephesians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.” I have had to deal with my cancer and the resulting issues from that which will follow me for the rest of my physical days on the is earth.. Prayer is a powerful “tool” God has given us.

Ken, We are praying for your family and especially Norma Jean. I too have Gastroparesis for about 15 years. It can be tough to deal with at times. We are praying for comfort and peace for your family while dealing with these medical issues.
I don’t know if you remember me with all the people you come in contact with. Danny Roberts introduced us at Hardies Chapel when we were living in Warner Robins and commuting to Gordon for worship.
