On Tuesday The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act to bar men who identify as women from completing in women’s athletic competition.
That evening Speaker Mike Johnson addressed reporters at a press conference and began saying “We know from Scripture and from nature that men are men and women are women and men cannot become women.” He pointed out that differences between the sexes goes back to God’s creation of Adam and Eve.
Following Johnson’s remarks a reporter asked why he thinks “Christian Scripture teaches that.” Johnson responded, “It goes back to the first book, Genesis.” Quoting Genesis 1:27 the Speaker said, “Male and female He made them.”
The bill passed by a vote of 218-206. However, it faces opposition in the Senate, and may not receive the required 60 votes to become law.
By the way, I wonder who are the 206 Representatives who thinks it’s a good idea for a man to pretend to be a woman and compete against females in their sports, as well as using the women’s lockerroom?
In an article on The Christian Post website, reporter Ryan Foley offered this insight and explanation regarding the issue.
The push to pass the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act comes amid outrage over trans-identified male athletes dominating women’s sports. The most prominent example of this involves Lia (Will) Thomas, a trans-identified man and former collegiate swimmer who broke records on the University of Pennsylvania women’s swimming team after competing on the men’s swimming team for three years.
In addition to the real-world examples of men who identify as female shattering women’s sports records, concerns about the biological differences between men and women also propelled efforts to pass such legislation.
USA Powerlifting, which adopted a policy requiring athletes to compete on teams designated for their sex instead of their self-declared gender identity, lists “increased body and muscle mass, bone density, bone structure, and connective tissue” as factors that give males an advantage over females in sports.
The post is not intended to be political. We do not promote partisan politics on ThePreachersWord. But some issues transcend politics because they are Biblical and spiritual issues. They are issues that Christians must not keep silent about, but speak “the truth in love.” Furthermore, in a culture that often corrupts the minds of our children, we must teach them the truth.
We are living in a mixed up, messed up world where too many of our leaders are unable to define the word “woman,” and seem to actually think men can become women. So many of these twisted views involving sexual orientation and identification, remind me of an Old Testament passage by the prophet Isaiah.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
And prudent in their own sight!
–Isa. 5:20-21
Human wisdom denies the obvious, ignores nature, and refuses to accept the plain truth of scripture. Sixty-two times in the Bible, whether speaking of humankind or the animal kingdom, it speaks of the difference between “male and female.”
I never in my wildest imagination thought 60 years ago, I would need to preach, teach, or write on an issue defining the difference between the sexes and defending God’s creation of men and women. But, that’s where we are today in our “enlightened age.”
Finally, I will leave the issue with Jesus who said, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’” (Matt. 19:4).

Amen!
And yet females according to the testimony of the forerunner…who put their faith in Christ the Bride who belongs to [with] the Bridegroom can be “sons” of God (Hebrews 6:19-20; John 3:28-29).
By the term “sons” of God, I understand that to mean…females with faith in Jesus the forerunner, are equal in worth to males and are “heirs” to the promise of God with full and equal citizenship with males in the kingdom of God.
Moreover my understanding of Hebrews 6:19 and John 3:28-29 has contributed to my understanding of what Paul writes with authority as someone who was crucified with Christ (galatian’s 2:20) and as anApostle:
“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise ” (Galatians 3:28-20)
Paul also writes “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! ” (1 Corinthians 6:15).
Those who insist Paul is male because Paul is always referred to as a he, need to review Ephesians 5:31-32 as well as Hebrews 6:19-20 and John 3:28-29. Seeing Paul as a male may be problem that is causing so much confusion among many who want to change their gender by surgery.
And for those skeptics who insist Paul was male, it wouldn’t hurt to consider Luke 19:1-10 and John 3:1-21 as well–and see just how a person (so named Zacchaeus that means pure and clean) encountered Jesus the Teacher out on the road to Jericho and after welcoming the “good” teacher to spend the night was declared a “son” of Abraham although others insisted Zacchaeus was a sinner. Yes and before you say…oh but Paul was circumcised and Paul. Well females were and have been and still are in some places.
Other scriptures also need to be reviewed with the understanding that Christ is the Bride who belongs to the Bridegroom…according to the testimony and faith of the Rabbi known as the Forerunner…and later after the Crucifixion and Resurrection became known as Jesus the Forerunner who gave us the HOPE of Christ (the Bride and Bridegroom) as an anchor, a firm foundation, for our souls with his testimony and witness.
