Every Day Difference Makers

Bobby Wesson posted a touching tribute to his wife, a nurse, on facebook that has found its way onto several facebook pages including It’s a Wonderful Day, Inspirational Quotes page, and OliViral.

We would like to add ThePreachersWord to the list for the benefit of our readers. Continue reading

Living Godly in an Ungodly World

One of the highlights of our trip to Ontario Canada, each year is participating in the VBS at the Wellandport Church. They may be small in number by the world’s standards. But they are great in faith, hope, and love.

It was a privilege to teach the adult class and share lessons about Noah, the ark and the flood. But it’s a real pleasure to see the children’s genuine joy. Their unbridled enthusiasm. And hear them sing their little hearts out. Continue reading

Matthew 5:14-16

Jacob’s Ladder,” was a 1980’s hit written by Bruce Hornsby and performed by Huey Lewis and the News. Remember them?

The song was set in Birmingham, Alabama, and married the Biblical image of Jacob’s ladder with someone who rejects a proselytizing evangelist, preferring to struggle through life one day at the time. In part the lyrics go like this. Continue reading

Lower the Temperature

In the aftermath of the assassination attempt on former President Trump’s life, many voices in the political arena have called for both sides to tone down the virotic rhetoric.

In fact, President Biden himself has spoken three times in this regard, including a rare Oval Office address to the American public on Sunday night.  He began his six minute address with these words. Continue reading

Choice is Fundamental

Last week I was watching a YouTube interview of a man who’s well know in some circles.

The interviewer asked him, if he was a Christian. The reply was an affirmative “Yes.”

Then the interviewer asked about his daughter who had married a woman. The implication was, “How do you as a Christian deal with your daughter marrying a woman?” Continue reading

Weekly Recap: July 8-12

Greetings from Welland, Ontario, Canada

After two weeks we’re getting settled in and enjoying renewing our association with the special brethren here in Ontario. They have received us (again) so graciously. We  have already been recipients of their wonderful hospitality and thoughtful gestures.

This coming week promises to be one of our busiest, but also the most exciting.  Sunday we began our VBS at Wellandport where I will be teaching the adult class. The material is based on the FLOOD from Apologetics Press.  It’s going to be a great week.  And a wonderful faith-building experience for both adults and kids. Continue reading

The 3 Sieves and The 4 Way Test

The other day I came across a piece posted on facebook by a man called Adams Noah. Not knowing him I would have skipped it, but it was a story about Socrates that caught my eye.

Supposedly someone came to the ancient Greek philosopher with something to tell about one of his students. Continue reading

Can We Nullify God’s Grace?

In response to a recent post on grace, one our faithful readers and my good friend, Jim asked, “Can those who show no grace continue to live in God’s grace?

“Grace teaches us to deny ungodly and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously and Godly in this present world,” Jim observed.

“However” he added, “if we do not live the nature of Grace towards others do we abide in God’s grace? Just a thought. Can we truly nullify the Grace of God in our own lives?” Continue reading

Titus 2:11-14–A Grace Fueled Journey

In Perry Hall’s book “Grace Does That?” he relates a neat story about Charles Bradlaugh and Hugh Price Hughes.

Bradlaugh was the most prominent atheist in 19th century Britain. On one occasion he challenged the evangelist Hughes to a debate on the validity of Christianity. Continue reading

Escaping Satan’s Clutches

Not long after daylight on July 4th our daughter, Rachél, was attacked by an alligator in the shallow water of the Hillsborough River at her Temple Terrace home.

Rachél instinctively screamed but the gator wouldn’t let go of her right leg. After hitting it with a rock, she punched it in the nose with her fist. But the gator held on. Tight. Continue reading
