Our Annual Anniversary Blogging Break

Two or three times a year we take a break from blogging. This next week is one of those times. Norma Jean and I will be celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary on August 23rd. We’ve been blessed for the past several years to take a trip during the week of our anniversary.

Typically I will post when away during meetings or some other trips. The year after I began blogging and we took our anniversary trip, Norma Jean asked, “You’re not going to do your blog on this trip are you?”

“Uh, no. Of course not,” I confidently replied.

“You’re not going to take your computer, are you?”

As I thought about her question, having the gift of perception, I felt strongly compelled to say, “Absolutely not!”

And so it was.

And it was great.

No email. No blogging. No facebook. No social media.

We continued that “tradition” now for several years. And we will this year. At least, the blogging part. I might sneak an occasional peek at my iPhone.

It’s good to unplug. Unwind. Relax. Just enjoy being together. And doing whatever you want to do. Even if it’s doing nothing! This year, in the spirit of enjoying our new Texas home, we are going to South Padre Island.

Since we have acquired so many new readers in the past couple of years, I will have WordPress reblog some past posts for your benefit while we are away. Hopefully, our long time readers will enjoy seeing them again.

And until we return to blogging new posts at the end of the month, have a great rest of August.

God bless, my good friends.

Congratulations……good decision to “unplug” for a while. In a way, hope you do not get this message…..will show you are not connected! Look forward to seeing you both in person soon. Billy & Shirley Akin

Happy 49th anniversary you two lovebirds. Enjoy Padre Island. Rick and I loved that area when he was stationed in San Antonio while in the Army in 1962. You’re just 6 years behind us. Our 55th is coming up next month.
