“No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated and disciplined.” penned Harry Emerson Fosdick, a preacher of the early 20th century.
Think about that a minute
Are you focused? Many lack focus, purpose and direction. Success in any endeavor requires focus. But what are you focused on? Paul said his focus was on “things not seen” (2 Cor. 4:16-18). Often the things we see distract us from important spiritual matters.
Are you dedicated? Dedicated to God? Dedicated to His Word? Dedicated to spiritual growth? Dedication is commitment to one Master, one cause, and one purpose (Matt 6:19-34). Without dedication you will never reach your spiritual potential.
Are you disciplined? We live in an age that shuns self-control. A successful life demands discipline of time, work, and money. Spiritual disciplines involve bible study, prayer, meditation, ministry, worship and discipleship. Like a race, Christianity requires discipline, conditioning, and self-sacrifice (1Cor. 9:27).
This week pick the one area in which you are the weakest and work on it. You will be better for the effort expended. And be on the road to living a great life.
—Ken Weliever, The Preacherman
I believe I am all three of these things, but I’m trying not to lose point of the overall goal though too!

I am all three, but the last one is the weakest link in a couple of areas of my life. That’s what I will choose to pay attention to in the coming week.

I am so dedicated to God and we are going through some very rough waters but I know he is pulling us through the roughest times.

Ken, I am currently working on focus. I’m working both on focus/clarity of mind and on focus in my choice of tasks during the day and the week. I am comfortable being a hard worker, but as you say, it matters *what* we are working on so hard. Thanks for a great message.
