This week we are enjoying some family time in Florida.
With our daughter-in-law, April, being in Residency, this is only a once or twice a year opportunity for all of us to be together at one time. To share food and fun. To reminisce. To recall funny stories. To dream about the future. And to enjoy our two adorable grandsons, Roy and Miles.
Family time is special.
But there is a another Family. The Family of God. In Galatians 6:10 we are called “the family of believers.” In I Timothy 3:15 Paul refers to the church as “the family of God..” And in Ephesians 2:19 Paul affirms that “you are members of God’s very own family.”
Today is Sunday, the Lord’s day. It’s a day for Family time. And though we are away from our local church-Family. We are blessed with Family all over the world. We will meet and worship with brothers and sisters in the Tampa Bay area.
I’m reminded the our Spiritual Family is the one constant in life. Physical families can be separated by time and space. Parents pass away. Brothers or sisters can be tragically snatched from the life unexpectedly. And sadly some family members can become estranged from each other.
The Family of God remains. Faithful. Loyal. True.
