A Personal Word From The PreachersWord

WinterWonderLand

Good Morning!

It’s 22 degrees and still dark here in Lee’s   Summit, as I enjoy an early morning cup of coffee and write today’s post for ThePreachersWord. I wanted to take a moment and share a few personal thoughts with our readers around the world.

This is a time of year during the holiday season to enjoy family and friends.  Share special times.  Savor some good food. Indulge your “sweet tooth.” Enjoy the festive nature of the season.  And if your are fortunate enough to live in an area like we do, we see the beauty of the snow, sit by the fireplace and sip some hot chocolate!

It is also a time for me, and I think many others, where you become reflective.  You ponder the past.  Consider the present.  And anticipate the future.  It’s time to reminisce and ruminate.  Often during this time as we come to the close of a year and begin a new one, we consider both our setbacks and successes.  Where we fell short, and where we need to improve.  It’s a time to think about goals.

For Norma Jean and me 2012 has been a year of change and transition.  Of course, the obvious change is geographical.  But with a change in residence comes many others.  And they have been good.  Very good!  We are reminded once again, that the one constant in life is change! And that God is good…..all the time!

It was a year ago that I decided to begin writing a blog.  I had the time and the opportunity.  I had been thinking about it for two or three months.  So, I just jumped in!   ThePreachersWord made it’s debut into the blogosphere January 1st. I remember my first post was from Okeechobee , Florida.  I had no “followers.”  I think the first day I ended with three!  Among the first were David and Shannon Key!  Thanks, ya’ll.

According to WordPress we now have 1897 followers!  Many receive our post via email, others on Twitter, and some are blog followers.  And of course, a number of you just choose to follow through facebook.  Regardless of how you receive ThePreachersWord, I appreciate your support and encouragement.  And the many kind words and comments we receive.  I know that our readership is tiny in the big world of blogging, but it still kinda “blows my mind” when I see hits from India. Pakistan.  Philippines.  And even Iceland.  To date we’ve had hits from 140 countries.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to share some thoughts that encourage, edify and uplift.  And maybe even enlighten or inspire.  I plan to continue this ministry during the coming year.  As we close 2012, we’re going to take a little break these last 5 posting days.  But I want to share with you the top 5 blogs in terms of hits for 2012.  So starting tomorrow I will repost your five favorites. I know we continue to get new readers, so you may not have seen them.

Norma Jean and I wish for each of you a joyous holiday season.  And may God richly bless you.

–Ken Weliever, The Preacherman
