Greetings from Beverly Hills, Florida
Just so our friends up North know, not everything is sunshine and lollipops here in Florida.
Our templatizes dipped into the upper 30’s this week. And the highs never got out of the 60’s for several days. Wednesday night I had to wear a sweater to Church. Yep. We have cold weather too. But today is predicting a high of 81. Happy days are here again.
Well, enough “complaining.” We’re richly blessed in so many ways. And thankful for the opportunities to minister in the Word–regardless of the weather.

Isaac Watts was an 18th century English minister and hymn writer, who had become dissatisfied with the songs and quality of singing in British churches.
In his book, Then Sings My Soul, Robert J. Morgan credited Watts with ‘inventing” what he called “the English hymn.” Watts, however, had his critics, including minister Thomas Bradbury who called his songs “whims instead of hymns.” Continue reading

Greetings from Citrus County, Florida
Our traveling has ended for 2023 and we plan to be home for the month of December, enjoying time with family, and sharing the Word at the West Citrus Church in Crystal River.
Tomorrow I will be preaching at the Sunday morning worship service, and beginning a class on The Heart of Christianity. On Wednesday evening I am teaching a class on the book of Ecclesiastes. Apparently, the reports of my “retirement” have been greatly exaggerated. Continue reading

My good friend and preaching colleague, Ralph Walker recently sent me an article by Judd Garrett about Megan Rapinoe, a “highly decorated member of the US Women’s National Soccer Team.”
If you watch women’s soccer you may remember she “became a controversial figure due to her protests of our National Anthem.” In her final professional match, Rapinoe tore her Achilles tendon in the first six minutes.
In the post-match press conference, she said, “I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a god, like, this is proof that there isn’t.” Continue reading
