5 Lessons I Learned From Noah and The Ark

Fifteen years ago, Robert Fulghum wrote a little book entitled, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. This credo became a phenomenal #1 best seller.  There have been lots of imitations of that “All I really need to Know” idea.

One of my favorites is “Everything I need to know about life I learned from Noah’s ark.”  This “unknown author” says…. Continue reading

Bathroom battles

This is a confusing and frustrating time for Christians.

Homosexual relations, same-sex marriage, and transgender rights are more than social or political issues, they speak to Biblical principles. Our moral foundation. And our spiritual values. We have occasionally addressed these issues from the perspective of “What does the Bible say?”

The latest cultural bombshell now involves the use of public restroom facilities.

Don’t Fall For Fake News

fake-news-1

The expression “fake news” has been in the news a lot lately.

Hillary Clinton recently gave a speech calling fake news “an epidemic” with “real world consequences.” No doubt she’s alluding to the so-called “Pizzagate” where a false news report spread an online rumor that her campaign had run a child sex ring at a pizza shop. The story led to a man with an assault rifle firing a shot into the Comet Ping Pong, the Washington shop falsely accused in the fake story. Continue reading

WORD OF THE WEEK: RESPECT

respect-2

Brad Johnson  tells about a soloist performing a song that Christian artist Sandi Patti made popular several years ago entitled “In Heaven’s Eyes.”    The audience was  enraptured as he sang:

A fervent prayer rose up to heaven

A fragile soul is losing ground

Sorting through the earthly babel

Heaven heard the sound

This was a life of no distinction

No successes, only tries

Yet gazing down on this unlovely one

There was love in heaven’s eyes Continue reading

What Do You Value?

 img_1085

Yesterday Norma Jean and I had a rather unsettling experience at Dallas Love Field on the way to Nashville. While waiting in line to go through security I looked at her and said, “Where’s the camera case?”

“I thought you had it,” she replied. “I put it on the seat by you in the shuttle.”

“No, I don’t have it. I thought you had it.” Continue reading

Why Did God’s Justice Demand That Jesus Die?

Cross.Peace

After a tiring two-week criminal trial in a high profile bank robbery case, the jury finally ended its 14 hours of deliberations and entered the courtroom to deliver its verdict to the judge. The judge turned to the jury foreman and asked, “Has the jury reached a verdict in this case?”

“Yes we have, your honor,” the foreman responded. Continue reading

Moving Forward Following Failure

 failure-not-failing-down

“The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything” observed our 26th President, Teddy Roosevelt.

In his book, Confident Living, Warren Wiersbe, writes that the inventor Thomas Edison “spent more than $100,000 to obtain 6000 different fiber specimens, and only three of them proved satisfactory. Each failure brought him that much closer to the solution to his problem. His friend Henry Ford was right when he said that failure was the ‘opportunity to begin again, more intelligently.’” Continue reading
