Rory Feek is a country music singer-song writer from Columbia, Tennessee. He’s also a blogger, author, and a world-class story teller. He was one-half of the Grammy-award-winning duo, Joey+Rory. Sadly Joey passed away 8 years ago with cervical cancer.

Today post is from Rory’s facebook page where he shared an article he wrote from Plain Values magazine in May 2023. It’s longer than we usually publish, but I believe you will find Rory’s article accurate, edifying, and spiritually challenging. Continue reading

2 Corinthians 4:1-6: Motives for Ministry

According to educator Edes Gilbert, getting a good education for their children is not the only factor motivating some of today’s parents to enroll their children in elite schools.

During her 15 years as headmistress of Spence, a prestigious Upper East Side girls school in New York City, Ms. Gilbert has seen an increasing number of parents using their children’s education for their own benefit. Continue reading

This week Norma Jean and I are in Huntington Beach, California, where I’m preaching in a meeting. We’re thankful to be here. We almost didn’t make it on time. Continue reading

Godliness is Fundamental

One Sunday on their way home from worship services, little Ella turned to her mother and said, “Mommy, the preacher’s sermon this morning confused me.”

“Oh, why is that?” the mother asked.

“Well,” replied Ella, “He said that God is bigger than we are. Is that true?”

“Yes, Ella, that’s right.”

“But he also said that God lives in us. Is that true, Mommy?” Continue reading

Weekly Recap: September 9-13

Greetings from Beverly Hills, FL

Today Norma Jean and I are leaving for Huntington Beach, California, where I will be preaching in a meeting beginning tomorrow, September 15th through Wednesday the 18th.  It’s our first time to preach for this congregation.  So we are looking forward to meeting the brethren and reconnecting with friends from Kansas City days, Joe and Debra Griffin.

The other day at church a brother quipped to me, “You’re the busiest retired preacher I know.”  Well,  I guess it depends on how you define “retirement.”  Since 2018 we have not been tied down to local church work, but are continuing to preach, teach, write and travel as opportunities are provided.  We are blessed. Three Daily Challenges for Every Christian

Last night at West Citrus Tom Quinn began a study from one of Wilson Adams’ workbooks Simple Scenes from the Life of Jesus.

The first lesson was based on Jesus statement in Luke 9:23. “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Continue reading

1 Corinthians 16:15-18

I doubt if any of our readers know the name E. J. Nichols. I wouldn’t either except for reading about him in Dee Bowman’s book, “It’s All About the People.”

Before Dee dedicated himself to full time preaching, he worked in radio. Occasionally, Grover Stevens, the preacher at the Caprock, Church in Lubbock, Texas, where Dee and Norma attended would ask Dee to preach when he was away. Continue reading

The Core Mission of the Church

According to an article on The Christian News web page by Donna Birrell the Peterborough Cathedral in England is planning to hold an Ibiza-themed concert in November.

This concert, set to take place on “All Souls day” is being strongly criticized by church leaders across the Church of England.

In an interview with The Telegraph Daniel French, who serves as the vicar of Salcombe, said the event was “incongruent with the Christian message,” and that it “doesn’t feel quite right.” Continue reading
