On Tuesday The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act to bar men who identify as women from completing in women’s athletic competition.
That evening Speaker Mike Johnson addressed reporters at a press conference and began saying “We know from Scripture and from nature that men are men and women are women and men cannot become women.” He pointed out that differences between the sexes goes back to God’s creation of Adam and Eve. Students in a Bible class were once asked to memorize Psalm 23. One little girl stood up and began “The Lord is my Shepherd.” Then she paused, as her mind went blank.

Last week we watched the funeral service of President Jimmy Carter. It was, as expected, an impressive service with its pomp and ceremony reserved for a former United States President.
The speakers included Steve Ford, son of former President Gerald Ford, and Ted Mondel, son of former Vice President Walter Mondale, with both reading remarks written by their fathers honoring President Carter. Of course, President Biden also spoke. Continue reading

David McCullough, in his book Mornings on Horseback, tells this story about Teddy Roosevelt when he was a kid.
Roosevelt’s mother, Martha, learned that he was afraid to set foot inside the building where they worshiped. He admitted that he was terrified of something called “zeal.” He thought it was crouched in the dark corners of the building ready to jump out at him. Continue reading
