Mission

Today’s facebook Friday features a post from my friend and preaching colleague, Wilson Adams.

Wilson’s newsfeed hasn’t been automatically appearing on my page lately. So, I had to look for it. Turns out I’ve been missing some really good stuff, which is no surprise. Wilson’s an excellent writer with a special gift.

This post is short. But packs a powerful, penetrating message about mission.

Mission

Life mission sees how many God-blessings have come to us (inward) and, in return, what we can do (outward) to share His story.

Here it is (Matthew 28:19-20):
1. Go
2. Make disciples
3. Baptize them
4. Teach them

We need to get back to mission. Our mission is not to get so entangled in politics, sports, hobbies, financial focus, media, social media, etc., to the point that we lose sight of mission. Ditto for arguing, biting, and backbiting. Ditto again for stoic and stagnant assemblies without heart and spirit. And we wonder why we don’t reach more people??

Truth… Life is short, souls are precious, and the mission is clear and ever-present. But before we can get friends and neighbors into the Bible, we must get in the Bible. Before we can offer gospel good news to others, they must see it in us. After all, you can’t give away what you don’t have.

If Jesus isn’t in us, how can He use us? Jesus is the hope of the world -and the world needs a lot of hope. And joy. And peace.

Ask God to put someone in your path with whom you can share the gospel. Seriously, ask Him. Then tell Him you are available. WARNING: don’t pray it if you don’t mean it.
That’s God’s Plan A. Plan B? There is no Plan B.

Thanks Wilson.
