Word of the Week: Thanks

We are taking the week off from blogging new posts.  However, we are reblogging some past posts.  Here’s one from Thanksgiving week in 2016.  It contains a great story about the British poet Rudyard Kipling and a special poem “Thank God For 100 Things.”  Enjoy.

The Power of a Few Well Chosen Words

“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

You recognize these words as the opening of President Abraham Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg address, which were delivered on this date in 1863. Continue reading

Faithfulness is Fundamental

Several years ago Eric Hulstrand related a story in Leadership magazine illustrating faithfulness.

“While I was preaching one Sunday, an elderly woman, Mary, fainted and struck her head on the end of the pew. Immediately, an EMT in the congregation called an ambulance.” Continue reading
