“In God We Trust”

Beginning this month the state of Mississippi will begin issuing license plates with the national motto: “In God We Trust.” Other states offer a specialty plate with the motto, but the Mississippi plate will be the standard plate issued to all drivers.

“I was proud to sign legislation in 2014 that added the United States National Motto, ‘In God We Trust,’ to the Mississippi State Seal,” Governor Phil Bryant wrote in May. “Today, I am equally delighted to announce that it will adorn our new Mississippi license plates.” Continue reading

As the new year begins we’re reminded of the Latin phrase, “Tempus Fugit.” Time flies.

Forget Resolutions in 2019-Be Principle Driven

I googled “Resolutions for 2019″ and got 778,000,000 results in 0.70 seconds.

A cursory glance offered advice from major newspapers, magazines, and media outlets. There were suggestions from motivational writers, political pundits and just ordinary folks. I saw ideas for financial resolutions. Retirement resolutions. Career resolutions. Health and wellness resolutions. And personal resolutions.

The reality is that most of the time our resolutions are broken, discarded or even forgotten before January ends. Continue reading
