What Does the Bible Say About the Earth and the Environment?

There’s a familiar story about a farmer who invited the new preacher to his home for Sunday dinner.

Before the meal, the farmer showed the preacher around his property. It was expansive, modern and very impressive. The preacher irritated the farmer a little because he kept saying, “The Lord has an impressive crop there!” “The Lord sure has blessed you with a beautiful lake there.” “I see The Lord has an outstanding herd of cattle in that pasture.” “That’s a spacious barn the Lord has there.” Continue reading

7 Reasons Why Christians Should Quit Grumbling About Paying Taxes

It was Benjamin Franklin who is credited with the often repeated quip, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

Today is tax day in the United States. Due to the 15th falling on Saturday and Monday being Emancipation Day, the tax deadline was extended until April 18th this year.

According to statistics about 25 percent of Americans wait until the last week to file. Another 17 million will file an extension. And about 99 percent will complain about taxes. Continue reading

Respecting Authority

It doesn’t appear that the vitriol toward our newly elected President is going to disappear anytime soon.

In his latest music video Snoop Dogg literally takes aim at President Trump with a gun pointed at a clown dressed like the President. The rapper listed many of his grievances with the President including his travel ban, “people being in jail for weed” and of course, just winning the Presidency itself. Continue reading

Duty to God? Morally Straight? These words are but a dim memory of what the Boy Scouts of America used to be. Continue reading

9 Principles To Guide Us During A Trump Presidency

inauguration-day

Today is the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as 45th President of the United States. As a sure sign that I’m getting older, he will he the 13th President to govern since I was born. And 6 of them served 2 terms!

I plan to watch the Inauguration. It’s fascinating to see history unfold before your eyes while sitting the warm confines your home. It’s interesting to hear the opinion of the talking heads and reflect on their commentary. And it’s intriguing to see the interaction of political foes who for one day seek to be civil to one another. At least, that has been our tradition. Continue reading

How To Live In A Divided Country

divided-america

“America is a sad place to live today,” posted one of my facebook friends, Jimmy Grushon, a long time friend and brother in Christ.

Jim laments, “The ideologies of politics have made people consumed in self and disrespectful of others who don’t view the world from their point of view. We are witnessing a society that hates more, is more hypocritical, more political, godless, more disrespectful and more self consumed than any time in my lifetime. “ Continue reading
